Re: Sonic Advetnure vs Sonic Adventure 2
Here is a question about playing the Sonic Adventure games:
When given the choice do you play through all of the story-lines or just the Sonic ones? I ask because I am getting bored playing as Tails in SA1 and watching the same cut-scenes but for some reason I feel I have to play to really complete the game.
I know that in SA2 you don't have as many choices, so I guess the question could be reworded as do you replay each level to achieve all goals or just do the main story?

Once you beat the game with all the characters you unlock super sonic for the final boss.

Likewise. Of course Live and Learn is the best Sonic song ever made.
If only the sound department would stick to rock/punk, and not do rap music (how the fuck does Knuckles = rap???????????)

Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?

I liked the music, but I don't think rock is really the genre best suited to Sonic games. The best Sonic tunes from the Genesis/Megadrive era were the ones that had a pop, dance, or new jack swing vibe to them--especially the ones influenced by Michael Jackson. Sonic Riders Zero Gravity had a soundtrack that I think is much better suited to Sonic than what we've had in a lot of the recent "main" games.ZeroAX wrote:If only the sound department would stick to rock/punk, and not do rap music (how the fuck does Knuckles = rap???????????)
Knuckles has always kinda been the "black guy" of the Sonic games. You can see an example of it in his "Tommie Smith" victory pose when he crosses a level's finish line in Sonic Advance 2. See also the dreadlocks and the green+yellow+red shoes--the colors of Ethiopia, used around the world by supporters of black culture and civil rights. I suspect that has something to do with the use of rap for all of his music in Sonic Adventure 2. Just an observation.
Re: Sonic Advetnure vs Sonic Adventure 2
This thread has actually inspired me to go back and give Sonic Adventure 1 another chance - everyone seemed so quick to dismiss my complaints about the game that I felt I owed it one more shot.
This time I've actually gone ahead and gotten ahold of the Brady Games guide. Usually I won't bother with guides but it solves the issue of the 'Adventure Zones' that bother me so freaking much.
-on the whole, I'm starting to reconsider my earlier negative opinion of the game. Most of the problems with the Action Zones (camera problems, random gaps to fall through) are pretty easily chocked up to the fact that the game was pushing some serious limits at the time. I'm playing the original DC release - I might not be so forgiving if it was the GC port.
