I'm more concerned with hearing you can't be Boris in multiplayer. Boris was my main.

Re: Negative Thoughts on Goldeneye 007 Wii
Ok after playing through the first three stages and a couple rounds of multiplayer this is just Call of Duty 4 with a Goldeneye skin, deathmatch is just alittle more arcadey. Singleplayer is fun, but multiplayer is a bit of a mess. I didnt enjoy CoD4 that much, so I dont really enjoy this. I mean it is probably the most fun FPS Ive played on the Wii but it just feels shallow. I mean if I wanted CoD4 I would have bought it (Reflex). But Im going to hold off saying brash things until after Thanksgiving. Ive got three to seven other guys who want to play it and we will see how it holds up after that.

I'm getting a similar sense. I'm rather annoyed there's no option for classic health in multiplayer like there is in single player. I also really dislike the melee system. It's fine for single player since it shows you taking someone down, but in multiplayer all it does is encourage people to constantly get in your face for the melee instead of relying on your firearms. I also miss that period of invincibility from Goldeneye multiplayer. You got knocked back a bit but you had a half second to find your opponent. Now every fight is over in a second.

Re: Negative Thoughts on Goldeneye 007 Wii
I just got done playing through the single player game, and I did enjoy it, but comparing it to the original I found a number of issues.
One thing I've always argued about Goldeneye 64 is the atmosphere. I've gotten into arguments with friends over the common "just play Perfect Dark, it's Goldeneye 2.0" remark. I always argue (among other things) that Goldeneye had awesome atmosphere. The feel/look of each level, along with the awesome music. Where are the "pots and pans" techno drums in the new Goldeneye? You can hear it briefly when you die, that's about it.
Speaking about when you die in single player... They should have done it just like Goldeneye 64. Multiple camera angles of you dropping to your knees then falling flat on your face while a number of enemies surround you and keep firing even though you're clearly dead.
Another thing that made it feel more like a modern generic FPS is the regenerating heath and constant nagging from your phone or cut scene or whatever. One of the things I liked most about Goldeneeye 64 was the menus, level menu layout, etc. You pick a level and it lists your objectives to complete. Then once you start the level, you're left alone to do your stuff. I hate having to sit and wait for something to finish so I can start playing again. It really annoys me.
Speaking of the menus... I haven't seen a game since Goldeneye 64 that had a menu layout just like that. It was simple, easy to look at, and just straight up awesome. You game save file is your dossier, the levels are photographs, etc etc. The music was even pretty good rather than just a generic menu music that most modern shooters have.
Speaking of music... I think it's awesome that they including the actual Goldeneeye song, but why the hell did they rerecord it? Perhaps they couldn't get the rights to use the original song? But I find that hard to believe since they have the rights to use the NAME Goldeneye, the story, the characters, ect. I just found it annoying that it was the Goldeneye song but sounded off. Some one imitating Tina Turna.
And why did they have to butcher the story so badly? You go to the statue park AFTER you've already been through the archives and on the train? What the hell is that all about?
I accepted the fact that every character except Bond was a different face, though it was still pretty annoying. I guess they couldn't get the rights to use the likeness of all the actors, or didn't want to pay the money or whatever. But why the hell did they have to write Boris out of the story? Boris was that character that every good story has. The nerdy losers that thinks he's a hot shot. The character that you laugh at. I'M INVINCIBLE!
I've only played a quick few rounds of multiplayer, I'll have to play more later. It was OK, nothing great. I don't like how you don't have the classic health, the regenerating health doesn't work well for multiplayer. Also, the melee attacks are just ridiculous. One hit kills. Not fun.
There's more I could complain about, but this was just off the top of my head. Kinda just wanted to rant a little about it. My main thought though, they could have done more to invoke the nostalgia of the people that loved Goldeneye 64. Instead, they just decided to make a generic FPS that happens to follow the Goldeneye story. Feels like they're just trying to cash in on the name. When that first trailer was released, they made it seem like they were gonna try and capture the magic that Goldeneye 64 had. Instead, they just put out this mediocre game. Pretty lame.
Again, I had fun playing through it. And I'll have to play the multiplayer a bit more. But honestly, the 13-year-old N64 game was a lot better of a game. Even as dated as it may have became.

Shock horror! Activision make mediocre game that is clearly just a cash in on a familiar name.

Re: Negative Thoughts on Goldeneye 007 Wii
I loved the original for multi-player but didn't really care for the main game so much. The Wii-make/imagining is pretty fun in the main game and I'm really enjoying online play.
The only thing I don't like about playing with the classic pro is that I can't invert my aim (or rather I didn't see it in the menu and said "screw it" then switched to wiimote+nunchuk).
Then my gripe about the wiimote+nunchuk is that I kinda suck.
I'm only level 9.
I might be pretty crappy but my most received award is eliminator (I think that's it... where you take out everyone on the other team in Team Conflict at least once).
EDIT - Man, I gotta go play now.

Another thing I forgot to say, I bought the bundle that came with the gold classic pro controller and a code to unlock Classic Conflict Mode. I couldn't get the code to be accepted, then finally did. But now I look for the option Classic Conflict Mode to chose and I can't find it! I'm assuming it's a multiplayer mode.
I did. It's in the options. The classic controller pro is awesome. Playing a FPS with the mote is pretty fun, but I don't always feel like waving my hands around and rather use a traditional controller.
You can most definitely invert the vertical axis when using the classic pro.D.D.D. wrote:The only thing I don't like about playing with the classic pro is that I can't invert my aim (or rather I didn't see it in the menu and said "screw it" then switched to wiimote+nunchuk).

Right. I wasn't expecting anything stellar. In fact, the game was pretty much exactly what I expected it to be. But that doesn't mean I can't complain about itNiode wrote:Shock horror! Activision make mediocre game that is clearly just a cash in on a familiar name.

The game in it's own right is a fine game. I had fun running through it on the operative setting, and I'll have fun playing through it again on harder difficulties and trying to beat the time trials. But the trailer they put out made it seem like they wanted to try and make it play like the N64 game and appeal to the people that loved the game 13 years ago, instead of this ordinary, generic, run-of-the-mill FPS that they made.
Re: Negative Thoughts on Goldeneye 007 Wii
They wanted to make you think that it would appeal to the fans of the original. That's exactly why it was cut that way. To focus on the nostalgia factor. Instead of actually doing a bit of fan service (involving a lot of work, which is what Activision seem to be allergic to) they simply decided to rip the level design out of the original and paste it into a generic shooter #023 AKA Medal of Duty: Contemporary Combat - Featuring JAMES BOND!!!Ziggy587 wrote:Right.
