Kinect or Move adoptions?

Post by avrame »

Anyone pick up a Kinect last night? Or how about the Move, anyone pick one up yet?

I know this is more a retro gaming site, but anyone interested in the next wave motion controls?

I'm still waiting for better games on Playstation Move before I pick it up. As for Kinect I'm not that interested in it. The technology is cool but I'm waiting for better games and applications to make use of it. However, I may get it anyways since I'm planning on getting an Xbox 360 Slim within next few weeks. 8)

I already own a Wii (don't care for the motion controls at all...) and a PS2 w/ Eyetoy (doesn't work very well and it's not very fun...) therefore I have no interest in either the Move (no matter what Sony says... it's a Wiimote guys... wake up!) or Kinect (Waving my arms around and talking to my Xbox is not something that I want to be doing...)

It's just Microsoft and Sony trying to cash in on what Nintendo started like always.

I wouldn't say so, from an engineering standpoint, I look at it as "How can people be happy with an inferior product? we can do better than that". It's always a tech/software company's job to try to one-up the competition.

I'm still waiting to see what more games are like. I'm leaning towards Kinect for Steel Battalion, and that Panzer Dragoon like game. But I don't think either of them are strong enough yet to justify their cost.

And that's why the gaming industry is so boring to me nowadays. Everything is just a rehash of the last games/console. Why be original when you can just copy everyone else? Bad way of thinking.

From what I'm hearing, Move could be useful in FPS games... Although it's early, it could be almost as precise as the mouse in games like Killzone 3 and Socom 4... That's one advantage I think the Move has over Kinect, it could actually appeal to hardcore gamers..

I have been thinking along those same lines. But like you said, it really depends on if the Kinect gets a strong line up of games in the future before I consider it.

To be honest there are some temptations to buy a Move (The updated version of Dead Space: Extraction and Kung Fu rider to name a few) but as of now it seems too steep a price and not enough games to really justify the purchase. Maybe in the future though.
