Do you ever try to bargain at Ebay?
Do you ever try to bargain at Ebay?
This is the second time I did for a game and it worked. I've been hunting for Arcana Heart lately, but it's impossible to find one with CIB around my area. I went to at least 4 gamestops and a pawn shop and I couldn't find one that came with CIB, so I went on to ebay to see if I could find one very cheap. Gamestop was selling it for 10 dollars, so I narrowed my findings with this price cap. Only one seller had a like new Arcana Heart for a starting bid of 8 dollars, so I actually messaged the guy to verify if the game was complete and if it were, then I would buy it from him for that price. After a day or so, he finally replied to me and also went through the trouble of changing the auction to buy it now. I am not sure if Arcana Heart is hard to find for some, but I think I did a great job today as I'm desperate to play the game. I simply don't like to bid and I hardly do, but I do love to negotiate and see if I'm lucky. The first game I bargain for was actually Project Justice where I got for 40 dollars with free shipping.

Re: Do you ever try to bargain at Ebay?
i have been buying a lot more on ebay lately. and if my eye is on a game that has been relisted more than once i always send a message asking them if they could lower the price; most games i am interested are BIN.
usually the seller will respond with, "what price did you have in mind?" my figures must be insulting, but they usually never respond back. how fucking hard is it to say, "sorry, that is too low." rude ass bastards is what they are.
but it is always a pleasure to see them keep posting the same item OVER AND OVER with the same fucking BIN price. and nobody buys it.

I didn't really ask the seller to lower the price since he had it on bid, but 8 dollars just seem like the seller wasn't sure if the game was going to sell or not.

Re: Do you ever try to bargain at Ebay?
I'm annoyed when a seller lists a X OBO item and it's clear they have no intention of considering any offers. There have been many times I'll find an item that will be say $25 OBO + $4 shipping that is something I'd mildly like to have. I'll offer $21, effectively making it free shipping. I'm not making a ridiculous offer like $5 or something, just a little of a discount as they bothered to make it OBO, so they should be expecting a little wiggle room. I usually don't get any response at all while my offer expires after 2 days and the item goes unsold.
I did it twice on a game that was reposted several times for a month. I made the same reasonable offer each time, was ignored, and nobody bought the game through several reposts. I don't know if it finally sold or they just stopped reposting it as I stopped watching the item. I did win out once though. I offered on a nice bundle and my offer was rejected, but at least the seller responded to me. Nobody else bit and it was relisted with a lower BIN, but still obo. I waited and offered the same amount again and they accepted that time.

I wanted a dual-type official gameboy link cable (with the adapter tethered to the end), and the only one available was kinda expensive and ending in 2 hours. I messaged the seller offering 25% less and she listed it at the price I offered the next day.

I do try and bargain on eBay with reasonable offers but as Hobie-wan mentioned it is really hit-or-miss with most sellers who frequently don't even respond. It has happened to me several times in the past.

I just won with a $7 bid on an $8 GameCube, free shipping! Hopefully it works; it came as is and it was a shipment of five, of which three worked and two didn't.
If it doesn't work, I'm just gonna pull out the innards and make myself an awesome lunch box.

I made an offer for a complete copy of Jackie Chan Stuntmaster for $14.99 (listing was priced at $21.99, I believe). The seller made a counter-offer of $15! That really had brighten up my day.

Re: Do you ever try to bargain at Ebay?
i had a similar experience but i denied the counteroffer. a game was 2.99 with a best offer button. i offer 1.99 and the seller countered with 2.50. i denied that shit. all over 51 cents.xan_racketBOY_fan wrote:I made an offer for a complete copy of Jackie Chan Stuntmaster for $14.99 (listing was priced at $21.99, I believe).
