Console Collectors Poll!!

There is definitely an impressive amount of consoles and peripherals out there that many go rabid over... whether it's collecting everything to have everything because you think it's just plain cool, or just collecting everything that you play. What's your deal?

If the games are interesting enough, I'd buy the console. Unless it was in a really great bundle.

If I see a console locally I tend to buy it whether I actually want to play it or not. However now I'm running out of space (with child number 3 almost due) so I stopped doing that. In fact I'm thinking about selling the ones I never use. I'm looking at you, Atari Jaguar...

I am selective but i try to play everything I stick on my shelf. I get my time in with the dreamcast and 16 bit stuff all the time.

If there is enough games I want to justify the cost of a console, then I'll get it. Since I've bought a whole bunch of consoles in the last few years it's been great because if I ever feel like trying a certain game or certain genre, I generally have a console that can run it. Eventually I'll stop - I'll have a hard time justifying a Jaguar or Game.com or R-Zone to myself.

I still game most on my Wii and DS (although my gamecube games and GB/GBC/GBA games get lots of attention too), but I play all of my consoles fairly often.

I think the first question is the only one that can be answered honestly, my vote. In my case I have gamed on every console I own. I purchase used Retro consoles if I am going to game on them. In honesty, some get a lot more play time then others.

I keep going back and forth on 2600/Intellivision/Colecovision as to whether I want to bother with them or not. I also want to own a 3D0 and Jaguar, despite the fact that they suck just because I connect with them, being infatuated with the mid-90s, 16(+) bit era of video games. What category do I fit in?

I do like collecting games, but I don't like getting the consoles unless I absolutely need one for a specific game. Especially for stuff like PS1 / PS2, I don't want to clutter up my place with Japanese versions of them, so I just assume run the discs off an emulator. Of course, if I ever decide to make a serious go at a Neo Geo, Saturn, or Dreamcast collection, this could all change in a hurry as I kiss what little shelf space I have goodbye.
