sorry. I mean I liked the first 3 when I was a little kid, but I was never really "into" the whole series. Just not my cup o' tea. Other than some stray cyberpunk stuff, I'm really not too interested in sci-fi in general.

Yeah, KoF '94 is widely ported but I don't think it is a very good game as the series hadn't hit its stride yet.
That's a really good point to make. That game is just so soul crushingly hard - and with little reward. Should we do KoF as a series instead? Or would '98 be enough?
Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?

Can you use the force in Dark Forces? That was my favourite bit about Jedi Knight II, and the bit that made the game stand out for me.

As for King of Fighters, I'm happy with any, as I might decide to play the NGPC one instead/in addition to the console versions. I loved Gals Fighters and an excuse to buy a new NGPC game would be much appreciated.

On a related note, we COULD play SNK vs Capcom and have the best of both worlds. The second in the capcom version of the series was on PS2, GC, XBOX in all regions and Dreamcast (japan only). SNK also produced a version for Neo geo, PS2 and XBox (although only on XBox in the US apparently) and a version for NGPC.

It is such a long series that playing the whole thing "together" would be tough. We're playing the Tempest series next month (three "official" games), and the only other multiple games we've played before are short light gun game series...considering there are at least 12 KoF games, it would be a bit unwieldy.

That said, it is always encouraged for people to play other games related to the main TR game every month...

True. You could easily do 'Together King of Fighters 2011' and still not have enough months in the year.

that's how I think of it. If I can't find the game picked, or it wasn't ported to a system I have, then I just find something similar to explore.

KoF 94 did not age well, KoF 98 on the other hand is one of the most competent fighters ever created. The reason we didnt not chose it right off the bat is because we figured that most people have already played it. I am fine with the list that dsheinem posted.

And Darkforces will be an interesting one. There is a PSX port, but the PC version is either easy on steam or difficult through Dosbox. Itll be fun to figure out. And yeah, I would rather have people playing Midimaze/Faceball, but no big deal. I especially wanted to see the look on Noises face when he found out that the Gameboy version was originally coded for 16 player multiplayer...
