The Rally to Restore Saninty and/or Fear

Post by MrPopo »

So did anyone else go to this? It was a total blast. It was mostly a comedy show, an extention of their work on Daily Show and Colbert Report, but John did give an impassioned plea about the state of our news media coverage of politics at the end. And how often do you get to see a duel between Peace Train and Crazy Train that eventually compromises with Love Train?

Are they going to replay the coverage of this? Didn't they cover it like the whole day or something?

I'm definitely going to watch their live coverage of the election on tuesday.

I'm sure I have would enjoyed the show, but I would have felt very out of place being trapped in a sea of libs. I know it wasn't a true political rally, but that is the audience they were going for.

Yeah, it would have been awful to be surrounded by sane people.

I was there, close enough to see and hear everything too. I had fun. DC is a well run city when it comes to handling mass crowds. The metro was crowded, but not crazy when it came time for us to get back to our parking spaces. The jokes were good and I didn't care for most of the musical acts, but they were tolerable.

I peel and slice libs and eat them on my honey wheat smokestack cheerios.

I have libs in my teeth and I'm all out of toothpicks.

libs wear bibs

libs get LIBOTOMIES

my libs are chapped

libs wear assless chaps

and can't read maps

Descension complete, bitch.

It seemed that although the audience was predominately liberal, Stewart and Colbert made a point to not break apart the american people in terms of politics. I especially like Stewarts highway analogy in which every car contains people with differing belief systems, but that most everyone is at peace on the road- he describes it as the 'You go, I go' mentallity.

We are united as americans because of our differences. Thats what keeps this country beautiful. The moment someone tells you what to believe and how to live is the moment in which we cease being together, and if you ask me, THAT is the true threat to this nation.

You do realize the bickering between "liberal" and "conserative" in this country is utterly ridiculous? If you haven't realized that a high majority of our "liberals" are still very right leaning, you have been misled. Both major parties are right leaning because of their pro-corporate, individual rights reducing views mixed in with keeping the status quo. When you vote for one of these guys you are basically choosing which one will spit in my face less.
