Uggh - Yamaha RX765BL receiver - no component/rca jacks

I'm in the process of setting up my home theater room. I have the Yamaha RXV765BL receiver so I can have one HDMI output to my TV with a bunch of different inputs. So far the surround sound is working pretty good with the cable box input.

I'm now trying to hook up one of my consoles with component video & rca audio. Wow, it doesn't look like this receiver has the appropriate jacks! Man, that blows. My options are as follow:

1. Component video with optical sound
2. Component video with coax
3. Composite video with rca jacks

I guess I need to find some sort of rca to coax converter. Has anyone run into a similar issue and if so, what did you do?

Audio 1 and Audio 2 under the video pre-out should be your correct inputs. It's a Yamaha so while it's not what I'd call customizable the settings should be fairly flexible to choose your form of audio input. What exactly are you trying to hook up may I ask?

Receivers are one of those check before you buy situations for sure, I got completely screwed by one years ago and never bought anything audio again before checking the back first.

Modman is right. It looks like Analog Audio 1 and 2 in combination with the Component connections.

Component AV 1 should be Analog Audio 1
Component AV 2 should be Analog Audio 2

That coax input is only for the matched coax digital out from your game console.

Doesn't look like a transcoder.
You need the same type separate connections going to your HD. For each type of input-output your are hooking up. HDMI, Component, S-Video and Composite. Same with Audio connections. You have HDMI, Optical, Coax and Analog RCA to match up.

I'm trying to connect a game console (e.g oxbox, wii, gamecube) that uses component video and rca audio.

Connecting the rca to audio 1 doesn't work. I can get video or sound but not both at the same time. It seems like my only option is to use composite video if I want to go completely through the receiver.

If you look at the manual (pages 16-17), it shows the possible connections. What I was trying to do was feed it all through the receiver.

I guess I need to get a component video switcher that I hook directly to the TV. Then the Wii, xbox will go to the switch box. The audio from the game systems will be the only thing that feeds into the receiver.

Painful, would seem to be an option using RCA audio Jacks with Component.
But you still have to run all the extra video and audio cable back to your TV.
Your solution is simpler and better, maybe go one more step.

Have all the video and audio both hooked up direct to the HDTV via extra switch boxes as needed. You won't have to mess around switching the receiver for each console input. You can then use the aux audio output from the HD to the input of the Yamaha receiver. Whatever is on the screen including cable TV is then audio fed to your receiver. You can even leave your HDTV speakers on to complement the receiver speakers.

Use that multi channel input. You select the component you want (AV1), then hit multichannel input on your remote and it'll keep the input's picture up while playing whatever is going in to that input.

I have a yamaha receiver too and use that input for SACD.

The Multi-channel input is designed for DVD and Blu-Ray players that have a 6 channel output from an internal decoder. Using it for anything else can be a serious pain in the ass and typically sounds unbalanced and wonky at best.

Mod Man, I know you know you're shit, but I have to sort of disagree. The multichannel input is intended to do what you're saying but I don't think it sounds off at all. It just means he can't use Dolby PLII or his other sound decoding options (I think).
