I don't think No Mercy 64 is remembered all the fondly due to its gameplay, which is grand in and of itself, but I imagine the real draw, or nostalgia factor of it, is the fact it was the first,
and truly, only American game so far (I know there was something not too different in the recent PS3 games) where you're offered complete control over everything, from your roster to the moves too, which made it easier to keep it up to date with, let's be honest, the ever-changing anomaly that is pro-wrestling, well character/moveset wise. I mean, if THQ released something similar this weather, with updated graphics and appropriate gameplay, I honestly think, that aside from the occasional DLC update, they wouldn't have to release another version until the following generation. Unfortunately, that falls under the "Great for gamer/Bad for business" banner.

Anyways, I believe little of the above applies if you're a Fire-Pro fan. Imagine the buckets of cash WWE or TNA would make if the did a collaboration with Spike to make some sort of official version of Fire Pro, or even Fire Pro Vs (Insert Company here) game. TNA'd be the most likely since THQ'd sue the soul outta of the WWE for contract breach.

I remember as a kid always hoping they would create a WCW vs WWF video game made by the same company that made no mercy/revenge. I didn't understand at the time that it wasn't possible, I figured if the same company made the game why not. I was about 11 when wcw revenge came out and I thought it was amazing. I remember thinking the graphics were "cool" I think I currently own all of them besides wwf wrestlemania 2000. The gameplay is still great!

I totally agree with this part

When it comes to 2D, the PSX would most likely slay the N64, since 2D would depend a lot on texture memory and storage space due to the absence of dedicated 2D hardware on both, it's also probably worth mentioning that the Saturn would rape both the N64 and the PSX when it comes to 2D graphics :P

I was really impress with the 2d graphics on the saturn, it was like having the 90's arcade in your house. Great sound awesome sprites.

wat.

The best thing about No Mercy was the menu music. Dah Dig Diggity Dawg. Dah Dig Diggity Dawg. Dah Dig Diggity Dawg. Dah Dig Diggity Dawg. and so forth.

I was never impressed by graphics...it was finally a series that incorporated real moves in a lockup, and plenty of them. Combine weapons, personalized specials, 4player/1 screen action, that's what made these so great 15 years ago.

Do me a favour and never play Fire Pro Wrestling. It's hands down the best wrestling game ever made, but apparently it's graphics look retarded. Therefore it's not worth playing am I right?

While I'm at it, fuck Asteroids, those graphics fucking suck man. I'm never playing that game ever again...

sarcasm out,
I think we should be clear about the difference between simple graphics and "eye rape" graphics.

We all know that N64 is multiple times the power of the nes, yet which is more pleasing to look at
this:

its not that advanced graphics means better game,
sometimes graphics are get in the way of the game where you can't figure out whats going on, or its juts hard on the eyes.

South Park 64 looks fine, I don't see what you're griping about there.
