ShmusicUp

Post by Vetus »

Copy-paste from Siliconera ( http://www.siliconera.com/2010/10/28/sh ... mp3-files/ ) :
ShmusicUp — or Shoot-music-up — is a vertical scrolling shoot-em-up where enemy bullet patterns are generated based on MP3 files chosen from your music collection. In development at Singapore-based startup, Tzai Entertainment, ShmusicUp is being classified as a hybrid of a rhythm and shoot-em-up game.

The only shmup I own is for my calculator, but this would be a day one buy. I've got over 3000 songs on my iPod, so I could play without seeing the same pattern twice if I wanted to.

I likes me some Beat Hazard. I'm not a fan of danmaku myself, but could be cool for those that are. I would hope there's more than just giant bosses and the brown clouds though.

I thought this was gonna be a thread about REZ. This looks pretty darn sweet though.

The only way to deactivate the ray beam and fight back the vampire alien threat is with a complicated series of foot patterns on the device's control board that looks remarkably like a DDR pad. We will all praise this man for saving our lives and buy him a mountain of stuffed animals.

Got an e-mail a bit back from Tzai Entertainment about an interview they did. You can read the entire thing here.

And as for the platform and release:
Vincent Low wrote: We are aiming for an early 2011 release, and are working very hard towards this. The game is currently on PC but we are also looking at various other platforms to launch the game in.
I thought it was interesting that Low, the head of the three-man team, used to work for Rare. Certainly gives him experience at making good games. Also, the entire team has helped develop some pretty good games.
Vincent Low wrote: Our development team, though small, is well-experienced and highly skilled. Titles that members of our team have worked on include Kinect Sports (Xbox 360), Silent Hill: Shattered Memories (Wii / PSP), Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts (Xbox 360), Overlord: Dark Legend (Wii), etc.

Got an e-mail saying they just released a beta for it.

The download link is here: http://www.mediafire.com/?z33nau6e3s6ss8s

I loved it, and immediately preordered it. It's $9.99 right now, but will be $14.99 later, so if you like the demo, you should get it now. :)

Just played the demo.

THIS is what I wanted AudioSurf to be, lol

It would be nice if it could turn tracks into entire stages instead of just a long boss fight though.

Maybe a little combination of audiosurf and shmusicup and we'll finally get there :)

I just played the demo using Aphex Twin's "4" as my level music, and now I just want them to take my money!
