What's been getting in the way of my gaming lately

Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

What's been getting in the way of my gaming lately

Post by Scooter »

Well, I haven't been around much lately. In a way, it's kind of a bummer having two all-consuming hobbies. It seems I really can't enjoy one without temporarily abandoning the other. Well, this summer, the car hobby has won out.

In June I got this:

Quite a few tuning and suspension mods have occurred to the GTO and I continue to enjoy driving it when the weather is decent.

Then here in October I finally got my seven year long (thus far) project car back from the body shop so I've been working on the final assembly stages. Here it is the day I brought it home from the shop, much progress has been made since.

I don't think I've touched a control pad since about May, maybe I'll get caught up this Winter when it's too cold to be out in the garage! ;)

Both are very nice. I was looking into getting a station wagon since I love the beach, surfing, and road trips but I don't have my heart set on anything yet. Station Wagons can be really hit-or-miss on whether or not they are good looking so I am having a hard time finding something that doesn't make me look like I have a large family in the early 90s. I also considered a Jeep Wrangler and Honda Element since those would seem to fit nicely into my lifestyle, but they are both a little on the expensive side. I think it would be a lot more fun to fix up an older wagon, or even a hippy van for that matter, haha.

Currently I have a 97 Cavalier and a 97 Grand Am, neither of them are worth posting pictures of.

Nice rides! A 65 Chevy Malibu? What size motor is inside?

You can combine both your hobbies at car shows. I have a 62 Impala, pop the trunk open for gaming at the back. Your wagon can be mobile gaming heaven!

The wagon started life as a 1965 Chevelle 300 2-door wagon. The 2-door wagons were only available in the bottom line of 300, never in the Malibu or Malibu SS line. Too bad. I've made it into a Malibu SS with the SS trim and interior (buckets, gauges, console). The engine is a built 427 big block, probably 475-500hp. The drivetrain is built kind of along pro-touring lines being lowered with serious bolt-on suspension parts to help it handle like a modern performance coupe/sedan.

A big block monster! I don't think it'll pass smog, all the tire smoke. :D

No smog check in Nebraska.

You can see and read all about the wagon's transformation at my website: http://www.macswebs.com/richl79/65tudorwagon/index.html
