I think shmup customers are also more willing to buy stuff for a dead system than your typical platform player.Frizz.Meister wrote:Shmups most likly apeal to developers because their really small. Most only have 5 levels and around 20 enemies. Thats alot less work than say an open world game, or even a racing game.
However look up redspot games. They've made RushRush Rally Racing which is a decent arcade racer, and a puzzle game which im yet to buy.

Nothing is 'wrong' with DUX as such. Its just that its so similar to R-type and yet inferior.
Also for me personally, bar Border Down vertical shmups are more... controllable? If that makes sense to anyone. So yeah i'm really looking forward to Fast Striker, even with its aweful name.

Pretty much this. I don't know if it's the settings on my TV, but the game is just too damn white. I can't tell anything from anything. Also, the developer made a real ass of himself on the Shmups forum.Frizz.Meister wrote:Nothing is 'wrong' with DUX as such. Its just that its so similar to R-type and yet inferior.

Oh really? what happened?
Re: New Dreamcast game Fast Striker by NG Dev Team due in Winter
This happened. Basically, the forum members pointed out problems with the game and eventually the developer promised a new version of the game to fix the problems. Never happened.gennss wrote:Oh really? what happened?

He would've been fine had he not said he'd provide a patched cd. He didn't consider the costs of doing so and when he did he had already opened his mouth. Poor business decision and affected his image, but I don't feel negatively towards the company because of it.
Still and indie dev company, no surprise to me they wouldn't have the resources.
The thread seems to have a lot of complaints about delays. Its software, it happens a lot.

I don't know how far into the thread you read, but a few of the posters figured out his "plan". I think they were right, but I thought I'd put it in quotes, anyway. René promised the updated game so that the posters would let up on NG:DEV.TEAM, but never planned to deliver.gennss wrote:He would've been fine had he not said he'd provide a patched cd. I'm just a bit leery. I'm going to wait awhile before purchasing Fast Striker.Poor business decision and affected his image, but I don't feel negatively towards the company because of it.

I'm looking forward to picking this up, along with it's soundtrack.
