I love that game (even played it yesterday) but I'm curious to hear Racket's opinion as to why he included it from the start.
I mean sure, when I got my SNES (SMW+F-Zero+PW), I thought it had some of the best visuals + audio I'd ever seen. I still think it holds up great today but pushing the limits kinda puzzles me as it is a 1st gen title.

Also, why FF3 + FF6 on the same list... They're the same game.

(GEN, SS x3, DC x3)*(PCE-Duo)*(Xbox:500GB)*(NGCDZ, NGPC)*(PS1, PStwo, PS3:160GB, PSP.3K)

I'm pretty sure DKC pushed the limits in sound as well.

And even if it is pre-rendered, it still looks better than all of the polygonal sidescrollers that came out for the 32/64 bit systems. I remember seeing early screenshots for donkey kong 64 and thinking the snes games looked better.

How about the Mortal Kombat series? I'm sure Acclaim and Sculptured Software tried to squeeze as much info as they could into those carts to make them as "arcade perfect" as possible!?

I was pretty impressed with hyperzone. I picked the game up at a local flea market a few weeks back. I thought it had interesting level design, and overall fun gameplay. I've only made it about 3 levels in though haha, I'm not the greates when it comes to shmups. Now, there isn't much (if any "true" 3d) but I thought the graphics were pretty cool/impressive for snes.
