Although I am with everyone else, I'd rather not buy a $150 add on to play this game.

Re: Kinect
To summarise. Too expensive.
I dont see whats so complex about it. Most people like the idea in some way or form, most people dont mind add-ons that allow for more games, most people dont want to shell out triple figures for something both competitions are doing for less.
In the UK at my local store the Wii second hand is cheaper than Kinnect. Who would choose Kinnect in that situation???

Damn! Panzer Dragoon just screams for a light gun! A wonder it has not been done yet.saturnfan wrote:New Panzer Dragoon game for the kinect you nubs.

Maybe just the Kinect will work (not kidding) calibrated with your favorite unloaded gun.
Using your hand alone just doesn't seem to have the same effect, how does one shoot anyways?
I have the PC version and the Dreamcast Lightgun does work on my VGA CRT monitor.
Another tease mod calling me? Lot of work for just one game.

Re: Kinect
While I find motion gaming interesting, I'm not going to jump on either right away. Call my old school, but games still control the best with an actual controller.

Re: Kinect
I've had Kinect since the end of August, it's not that good. I've only played the Kinect games maybe 3 or 4 times. You can't control the dashboard with motion, you need to go to a separate Kinect dashboard that doesn't have marketplace or anything. It just has play game and then things that have to do with your account or Kinect itself. The only voice commands it has are "open tray, close tray, play game, and kinect (brings you to the kinect dashboard)". I guess the video chat is cool, because it supports Windows Live Messenger (You can video chat with people who have webcams) but on Xbox, if the person your chatting with has no Kinect, you of course can't see them but they can't see you which is stupid.

Re: Kinect
The Panzer Dragoon news is pretty frustrating on a couple of different levels. For one thing, right now, there's little other compelling reason to get Kinect. That's a lot of money to drop just to play one or two interesting games.
To add insult to injury, the Wii has been an ideal target for some sort of Panzer Dragoon game for what, almost four years now? Where was Panzer Dragoon then? Nothing. Now Kinect is out and the Panzer Dragoon franchise is suddenly an early adopter of new control styles?

Re: Kinect
I think it would have made more sense if the Kinect was $70-$100 rather than $150... As an earlier poster stated, it's more expensive than a 2nd hand Wii console and that's just too much..

Re: Kinect
I think it's going to take off. Don't get me wrong, I think it's a ridiculous device and a horrible way to play video games. Much less to do anything else with. Make no mistake. Microsoft will market the shit out of this. You won't be able to turn on the TV or visit a web site without seeing an add for it. They are going to pay reviewers off with incentives that will make you grow a 3rd testicle. They will have crazy demo kiosks set up in electronics stores that give the illusion of cooler than it really is that will entice people. "Whoa, look at how those reps are dressed, the way they're talking to people. It must be the next big thing." Every celebrity interview over the holidays will include some question or some gush over how incredible and innovative Kinect is, even if it has nothing to do with the interview.
When the smoke clears, people will forget about how ridiculous the thing is and how it's really just an unproven concept crutching on tech that won't actually be reliable for another 10 years. And once people have a financial investment in it, they will make excuses for its shortcomings and the fiasco will continue.
The funny thing is, that like the Xbox 360 itself, I doubt Microsoft will make much money on Kinect but they will be able to say they beat Nintendo (and to a lesser extent Sony) at their own game... or something like that.

Nintendo's game is making money on game consoles. Nobody ever beats them at that, even with higher market share or fancier equipment.wip3outguy7 wrote:The funny thing is, that like the Xbox 360 itself, I doubt Microsoft will make much money on Kinect but they will be able to say they beat Nintendo (and to a lesser extent Sony) at their own game... or something like that.
