Exactly this. If you are into emulation this is the way to do it.

However using a +1ghz system with windows 7, etc to emulate just a 2Mhz system seems like such an overkill....

Not really. You always need more power to emulate anyway. And don't forget you need a system that's powerful enough to run Windows 7 in the first place, PLUS the emulator. I think the minimum CPU requirements for 7 is 1Ghz if I remember correctly. Besides, anything cheaper than that is gonna be larger.

But you don't need Windows 7 to do this. Hyperspin will run on XP.

I didn't catch it, but did he say what emulator he was running? Something like Nestopia will take a lot more CPU than FCEU or whatever.

You do have a point about price though. A bottom of the line C2D + microATX case is dirt cheap these days. You could hardly spend less if you tried.
