PAL PS1 and NTSC-US game.....need info

Post by s8n »

hi RB members , i am requesting some info on PAL PS1's.........

say i have Point Blank NTSC-US a PAL PS1 that has a Multi Mode 3 chip in it that has been programmed with PAL code.

Will Point Blank run at 60hz or 50hz ?.......

If im correct it will run in 60hz mode but the Video will be Black and White

btw i will be using a RGB SCART Cable i dont know if that will make any further problems or rectify anything.

The playstation's freq is softcoded. So if the game is PAL it will run at 50hz regardless of the console it runs on, same for NTSC games (they will run at 60hz regardless).

You can patch them to run to run at a different freq, however there becomes syncing issues with music, fmvs, etc.

If a game runs in black and white on your TV it means you either dont have it set to NTSC or your tv doesnt support NTSC.

So basic point is the game will run at 60hz, it will be full colour so long as your TV supports it.

[This information is based of every mod chipped console I have used, your might be different but I doubt if the chip would override the games region code).

Back on topic. If you use an RGB SCART cable the NTSC games will run in full colour at 60 Hz on a PAL PS no matter what region TV you have as long as it takes RGB. If you use another cable then it will be in black & white unless your TV can handle NTSC
Mostly harmless
