Toy Story 3. Damn you Pixar and your sentimental endings! Has it already been 15 years since the first movie, and being impressed by tt's adaptation for the Megadrive? :(

<spoiler?> That Gipsy Kings' rendition of Randy Newman's song came out of the blue

Senseless - great movie, but most will compare it to Saw or Cube. Nice little twist at the end.
Hunger - Again, some are comparing this to Saw. Seems most movies are trying to cash in on the success of Saw by making the description sound like the Saw franchise rather than what the movie is actually about.
Zombie Strippers - Eh this movie is basically everything you would expect it to be. Robert Englund is pretty awesome, but don't expect zombie strippers not to shove ping pong balls in their hoo hahs and fire them at each other.

American History X. Hadn't seen this movie in about 7 years. I like how it doesn't tackle the issues in a purely black and white format (pun somewhat intended). When characters are arguing for their "racist" side their arguments aren't completely without merit, and you can understand how they got dragged into the world they're involved in.

Two more horror movie reviews for you to start your day!

Pandorum (2009) – It is a shame that almost every sci-fi horror film set on a ship has to be compared to Alien, but there really hasn’t been a strong challenger to that throne. Sure, I’ve enjoyed some other ship-based horror films like Event Horizon or Solaris, but I’ve yet to find one that meets the level of excellence that Alien rises to. Unfortunately, Pandorum falls into that group of also-rans. The comparison to Event Horizon in particular seems the most fitting, as like that film this one plays up the psychological angle of the horror. There were many things about this film I liked – the opening scenes and the ending scenes in particular are quite good, and the acting by the two main leads is fairly believable and matches up well against other films in the genre. It is a good story, and keeps you guessing about a few of the twists and turns until the end. It looks quite good as well – there are lots of believable gore effects, non-distracting CGI, and some really beautiful sets. What drags the film down more than anything is the middle third, where the directing and the story just don’t seem to mesh. There’s an overuse of mood lighting in many scenes, the monsters seem recycled, the pacing fails to keep the suspense palpable, and the movie just drags on and falls victim to many of the clichés found in most space-horror films. In other words, it has the best and worst qualities of producer (and Horizon director) Paul Anderson’s other work – and one has to wonder how much say Alvart (a relative unknown) had in the final cut.
Grade: 3/5

The Omen (1976) - I picked up the Blu-Ray Omen box set on an impulse last week because it was quite cheap on Amazon, even though I’ve never seen any of the films. I expected something Exorcist-esque, but what I got was a much more serious study in paranoia enabled by some visually striking scenes. Standout performances from Gregory Peck and an strong cast coupled with a pitch-perfect score makes this film an excellent study in atmosphere. And though it is more suspense than horror, it has a nasty streak that is reminiscent of some of Hitchcock’s best horror-tinged work. The last half hour or so had me on the edge of my seat in a way that none of the other films I’ve seen this month could match. I hear the quality of the films quickly drops after this first movie, but this one already makes me feel like I’ve gotten my money’s worth.
Grade: 4.5/5

Also, I updated my list of movie reviews in my signature.

Those giraffes sure did scatter at the sight of Damien.

THE OMEN is either scary or hilarious. I enjoy the movie both ways.

I can see that. I watched it alone late at night, so it had more of the former vibe going on. More suspenseful than scary, though. With the right group it would be great for MST3K-style fodder.

Animal Kingdom. The best drama of 2010 so far, that I've watched that is. Solid performances all around, Guy Pearce (Memento) is in it as well. To the aussie accent complainers: Turn on the subtitles you schmucks!

Rewatched Trick r Treat. Still awesome.

Also watched Predators. Gr8, and Brody is SO not the same one I've seen in Dummy (quirky) and The Jacket (surreal).
