Why is the Gamecube cheaper than N64/SNES/NES?

Anything that is gaming related that doesn't fit well anywhere else

Agreed. I try to buy things before they become "trendy".

Now that retro gaming is taking off in popularity, prices are going through the roof. I'm buying up many recent consoles are low prices before the trend-followers catch on in 5-10 years and prices go skywards. (And not as an investment - I've been playing "old" games for years as it's a nice, cheap way to enjoy this hobby, and I don't on-sell my old stuff because I'm too attached to it).

Because I don't want to play GameCube games on the HDTV that my Wii is hooked up to. And since my thrift store sells complete GameCubes + typically 2 games for $8.00, there's no reason not to.
