I FINALLY finished it with the default 4 credits today after dying and restarting the game god knows how many times. I must be doing something wrong because I hear people say the game is easy.
The game seems downright cheap at times to me, and the controls and hit collision seem slightly off. Maybe I just suck. I can't imagine how it's possible to finish this game with no deaths at all, but I'd love to know how.
Any of you guys pros at this game? Any tips?

Well, that makes me feel better. I thought I was the only one who thought it was tough. I barely made it to the last boss, and I definitely got lucky a few times throughout the game. Oddly enough, the last boss was easy. I just kept grabbing him and mashing the kick button. It was only in the second battle that he actually started breaking out of my grabs, but I quickly kicked him when he did and then resumed my grabbing strategy again.racketboy wrote:I never thought its was easy....

I actually beat it with the female. I don't know if there's a real difference, but I seemed to have more luck with her. I also played the japanese version, but I assume the difficulty is the same as the US one.

It can be done with some beat'em ups, but seems impossible with others. I'm thinking that Dynamite Deka might fall into that category. You can search youtube or online and see single player no death runs of games like Cadillacs and Dinosaurs,Aliens vs Predator, Streets of Rage and some other beat'em ups, but I haven't seen a single video of anyone who is able to play Dynamite Deka without regularly dying. There's not much in the way of faqs for the game either. Just one on gamefaqs, but it's not really that useful.fastbilly1 wrote:They might mean that Dynamite Cop/Dynamite Deka 2 is easy, since it is comparably. Die Hard Arcade is a fine game and always worth atleast a try even though, as you well know, it is cheap sometimes. I never thought about 1ccing Beatemups, intriguing.
Oh well, I'll probably play the game on again, off again and see if I can get better, but it seems like the game could use some difficulty balancing like in Guardian Heroes or D&D Collection.
Die Hard Arcade is a fun game though. Otherwise, I wouldn't have kept at it even after dying and restarting many times. I'm kind of proud that I finished it without getting any extra credits from the submarine mini-game, but I got lucky quite a few times
Oh, and if you want to see some beat'em ups being beaten on one life fastbilly1 you can find some here:

I hear everyone say he's insane, but he never got an attack off on me. I just stayed close to him and kept using grab attacks. The rest of the game is pretty insane though. Random enemy AI and spotty controls are my biggest complaint. Why is it so hard to do something as simple as a dash in this game? I know it's not my controllercloudrat7 wrote:i was just playing that earlier tonight on an model 2 emulator..![]()

I'd love to hear why so many people diss the sequel on the Dreamcast. I saw some youtube videos and it looks like the engine is exactly the same, except you have better moves and weapons. Plus, the ability to actually power up your characters. All this, plus a supposedly lower difficulty. Sounds like the second game blows the original right out of the water to me.

It's interesting too that while the sequel got horrible reviews on gamerankings, if you actually read those reviews they are all written by people who clearly don't like arcade beat'em ups. They'd probably bash Die Hard Arcade too.
Seems to me like Dynamite Cop got the shaft, despite probably being better than its predecessor.

Deka 2 is good, but it is just more of the same. Granted I do love beating people with bread and throwing cake. The first was one of a kind, the second could have expanded on it more than just another set of stages and adding in the kraken. Does it make it a bad game, no, does it make it a disappointment, kinda. Now if they had both Deka 1&2 on a single disc and running at the Deka 2 graphic and music level well that would simply be awesome.
Granted Deka 3 looks kinda sad...there are videos on rackets youtube
