Sonic Fan Remix and Sonic 2 HD
Re: Sonic Fan Remix
waaaaaaaaaaaay better
Re: Sonic Fan Remix
I feel the same. Such a visual treat but there is so much detail I can't focus on the game. I'd prefer it was toned down.alexjames01 wrote:Just played through the demo. Visually it is stunning, but it is so overloaded with visuals I have a (very) hard time picking out the enemies from everything else. This makes it to where you are very cautious while running through the level which takes away from the speed and the whole purpose and feel of a sonic game. Either way though, what they have accomplished already is still jaw-dropping! Looking forward to more.
Also, it's too bright and shiny - like most modern games; developers today tend to overuse shiny shaders and bloom to make things look higher res, but it's not very easy on the eyes.
Other than that, it's awesome and I'm definitely keen for more.

Try setting the graphics quality to fastest. It removes some of the shadows, and overall looks more like the original game.

Nice.
Now I'm looking forward to it all the more.
This is surely a great year for classic gaming fans.

Here's a download link that won't take 2 hours like megaupload.

Listen, you need to tell this guy to change the level layouts and exchange sonic for a misc early 90s type mascot character, and get this thing released on Xbox live.ZeroAX wrote:holly shit the guy who made it is Greek ( http://forums.sonicretro.org/index.php?showtopic=19981 look at flag next to his name). He just joined a Greek forum I'm on. Everyone is telling him how awesome the game is. I'll try asking him about more info.
This guy clearly has more skill than anyone on "sonic team" and should be heading sonic projects, but due to the retardation of sega that will never happen.

Played the first stage and... HOLY SHIT. The graphics are great (even when I played it Windowed at 1024x768) and it plays just right. I'm not sure how accurate the physics are (I never really payed much attention to the physics in the Genesis Sonic games) and I haven't played the demo to Sonic the Hedgehog 4 yet.

I was totally willing to accept different physics in Sonic 4, I didn't think they'd be just like the original games. I figured I'd get something similar to Rush or the Advance games. But I quickly noticed that the physics in Sonic 4 are HORRIBLE. It's kind of like if you took the weird physics of the sonic adventure games that had invisible walls that would speed you up and push you in different directions, and then adapted that to 2D. It seems like each ramp, platform, and loops was separately designed to sort of make sonic look like he's reacting naturally, as opposed to the original games which were consistent throughout. There were actually parts where I could hold right and sonic would be standing still on a 90 degree wall with his walking animation playing. There's also like no momentum when jumping so if you're in the air and you let go sonic falls to the ground like 400 pound tumor spontaneously formed inside of him.

Re: Sonic Fan Remix
I know how you feel. What shocked me was trying to have Sonic climb out of one of those half-pipes via his roll move. In the old titles, Sonic would gradually get higher and higher. But in Sonic 4, all you have to do is hold right and he'll scale the entire wall. It just felt different. I still enjoy the game quite a bit, though.Jrecee wrote:I was totally willing to accept different physics in Sonic 4, I didn't think they'd be just like the original games.
