Yeah, still trying to forget.
Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?

Give me a freaking break.

Dracula X had better graphics, snappier & tighter gameplay, better music (based on my preference for synths) and did it all at the loss of only a single level and a playable character not to mention it had more content in the end that Rondo.

In the end it was a CD based game crammed into a cart and it does what it did extremely well.

P.S. - I HATE Castlevania elitists who say every game aside from III, IV and the Metroidvanias are bad.

They butchered the level design, made unnecessary cuts in content, and ignored all the advances in the series since the TG-16CD original.

It was a step backwards and a lazy one at that.

And trust me, I'm no Castlevania Elitist. I prefer my Castlevania's metroid free. Bloodlines is my favorite of the bunch.

I think that was the point, to give US gamers a really close approximation to what the Japanese people got.

Also, what exactly constitutes butchered level design to you?

Rondo of Blood was tough but whenever I die in that game I say 'oh, that was my fault'. Dracula X is full of spots where you can't not get hurt. A hall way full of spear men with obstacles putting them past your whip range comes to mind.

I'm glad Konami TRIED to give US gamers a taste of Rondo but they could have done better. Konami was a 1st class 3rd party - I think they just didn't dedicate enough resources to the task.

It was late 1995, the SNES was essentially dead. It's gonna suffer a little because of it.

Also, never thought of using your weapons instead of the whip? I breezed through both games easily and never really saw why either were considered so hard. I still enjoy them as my lazy day Castlevanias.

Of course I used special weapons instead of just the whip. I may not be possessed of the same skills you have, though...

I dunno, after Castlevania IV, my beloved Bloodlines, and Rondo of blood, Dracula X just made too many cuts to feel like it fit. Even the more recent Adventure: Rebirth was a better fit for me. But I may be in the minority with this opinion.

I actually liked Adventure Rebirth. So what if it was easy? The original GB games it's based on were pretty much a cakewalk too. Never kept it from being a fun experience though.
