Keep List of Video Games

Post by shwisha »

What do you guys recommend for keeping a record of all the games in your collection? I tried this: http://club.ign.com/b/list/custom?lid=100018 but doesn't seem to work very well.

Any recommendations?

I absolutely agree. However, they aren't registering new members at this time (unfortunately).

I'd say it depends on what he wants to do with it.

I use both backloggery.com and rfgeneration.com. While backloggery is geared towards completing the games in your collection, rfgeneration is based around the collector. It tracks individual versions, the number of copies, cases, and manuals you own, and allows you to fill in other information for notes, such as if you desire to list other inserts. Its database is also constantly growing with new titles. Backloggery instead allows you to input the titles of games for your choice. It makes things a little easier since you don't have to search a database, though it does invite errors on your part (which unfortunately I've managed to make a few. I put in "Red Dead Revolver" for the PS3 as opposed to "Red Dead Redemption." I always feel embarrassed when I do that). I see both as attractive options for the gaming and retrogaming communities, and I use both.

I use backloggery to keep track of my game completion % and IGN for my overall gaming collection since it's easy to look at and I like seeing box art next to each game. I started using rf Generation for how complete each game in my collection is with box, manuals, etc. 8)

Eh, I just use a spreadsheet I started years ago. I'm not too keen on entering all of them again somewhere, especially since it's a lot bigger since then even.

I use Delicious Library. It's surely not a solution for everyone because it costs money, but it does a more than fair job of keeping my collection organized. Plus it's incredibly simple to input new games using your webcam as a barcode reader. Before that I used Excel, and before that Notepad.

I personally prefer offline solutions for my gaming database just in case I want to access it where there is no internet service, or if there were a server crash, or the website I'm using goes down.

I just use spreadsheets that way I can keep a copy on my phone and double check if I already own a game or see how much I paid for my copy when I'm out shopping.
