Sega ST-V "Cartridge Error"

Post by aaron »

someone near me is selling an ST-V cabinet for a really good price, but the two carts they have with it keep giving a "Cartridge Error" message everytime they try to use it. i'm wondering if this is a common issue, or if it's something with the board or what, i am pretty green when it comes to these types of things. it's a really, really good price i think and it comes with two games that i'd like to own, but i don't want to pick it up if it's going to be a huge hassle. does anyone have any pointers or any experience with these machines? a few google searches yielded some forum results but not a lot regarding this specific issue.

A really good price could indicate someone tried to fix it and wants it off their hands... I've had experience with that! If the monitor and other components are good, a quick search told me that the ST-V jamma board and game carts are fairly cheap.

Did the games work before? ST-V is pretty bad w/ region locks. There are multi BIOS chips to get around it but it's the MB is fried, then stay away. The only games I would want of is Silvergun, Soukyugurentai and the Cottons...what is the seller offering, if I may ask?

well he stopped emailing me, abruptly, so i doubt it's going to go through. but he offered an ST-V cab, missing the top marquee (which was a bonus for me because i have limited space), including decathlete and die hard arcade. i thought it might have been a region issue, but even if the mobo was fried, those can be had for around $100 and he said the monitor worked just fine. he was asking $150. kinda bummed but oh well.
