Do you buy "limited edition" games?

Anything that is gaming related that doesn't fit well anywhere else

I've only bought LE versions 3 times I can think of. Diablo II collectors, Hellgate London collectors, and Prey. The latter was because when I finally bought it, the PC LE version was actually cheaper than the regular one at Fry's. I do have Deathsmiles LE too, but since that's the only version released it doesn't count.

Ouch I bet the Hellgate collectors stung a little bit. That game lasted what? A year before it got shut down?

Not really games, but one thing that will become rare after a few years are pretty much..anything Hori makes. I noticed they'll normally manufacture something for 2 years tops then discontinue it right away. Example: Hori Fighting Stick 2 (for PS2..obviously) is near impossible to find now.

I dont normaily go for collectors editions but there are a few exceptions.

A few months ago I found the collectors edition of streetfighter 4 dirt cheap and decided what the hell.

A few days ago I pre-ordered Fable 3 collectors edition. Fable: the lost chapters is one of my favourite games of all time, and I've always wanted something Fable related I can have on display.

I never do, only times I ever have in the past is if they are heavily marked down (Which happens a lot because no one buys them).

Its not so much because no one buys them. Its more that they are not quite as limited as their name suggests.

Starting this gen, I have picked up quite a few:

-PS3-
MGS4
Demon's Souls
Street Fighter IV
Resistance 2
God of War 3
Prince of Persia
Madden XX

-360-
Oblivion
Deathsmiles

For older stuff, I have the CE/LE of these:
Lunar 1 (w/puppet) (PS1)
Lunar 2 (PS1)
Shenmue (DC)
Rush Rally Racing DX (DC)
Soldner- X (PC)
Crysis (PC)
Quake III (PC) (steel case)
Half Life 2 (PC) (release day version w/ t-shirt)
Doom 3 (Xbox steel case)
Halo 2 (Xbox steel case)

I also have a few games that are bundled with a soundtrack, so I am not sure if they count:

Beaten Kaitos
Raiden IV
Silent Hill 3
...and another few that I can't think of right now.

I am not counting collections (e.g. MGS 1-3) or GOTY editions (e.g. Fallout 3) as those aren't usually limited, but are often cool.

So yeah, I guess I do collect at least some LE stuff.

I liked the Doom3 Metal Box for xbox. I have Triggerheart LE on dreamcast, and I bought my brother n' law SoulCalibur 4 LE.

I think LE makes gifts look that much nicer when using a game as a gift.
