I've only played a bit of Poke. I'm curious do the third titles in each generation just combine the first two? Like is Yellow basically just Red & Blue combined? Or what's the deal with taht?

Yellow version is closer to the anime. You start off with a Pikachu, can get all three starters down the road, and fight Jesse and James regularly. It's much harder, especially since you overall can catch fewer pokemon than in red and blue.

Crystal, Emerald, and Platinum add on extra features such as the Battle Tower/Frontier, generally follow a different plot, and have other features to add replay value or remove bugs (Platinum is my preferred version for Gen IV, since the savetimes on diamond and pearl are ridiculous, from 15-30 seconds, whereas platinum reduces it to 10 tops).

Usually they have some huge extras that aren't in the first two.

In Yellow, you have a Pikachu walk behind you, and you receive Bulbasaur, Charmander, and Squirtle from NPCs.

In Crystal, you chase Suicune around Johto and Kanto (which is reprised in HG and SS).

Emerald introduces the Battle Frontier, pits you against both Team Magma and Team Aqua, includes some new areas, and replaces one of the Gym Leaders.

In Platinum, it puts Giratina in a 3D world (which is really cool), introduces Looker (who is the best Pokemon NPC ever in my opinion), reintroduces the Battle Frontier, lengthens the story with Team Galactic, and adds the Wi-Fi Plaza.

agreed, mainly because Looker is The Doctor.

It depends on the nature. Some natures have flawless spreads and some don't. In the end it doesn't matter much because they get 30 points instead of 31.

I looked a bit and it seems that Shoddy used to allow all spreads and, at some point, that was changed and IV limitations were implemented. This implementation was as good as it could be, as the way the game generates some spreads is not known. This goes double for Zapdos since you can get it in XD and how XD generates random numbers seems to be a logistical nightmare.

So, they know that, for example, Arceus has limited spreads (Those spreads may include perfect ones though) but they don't know if the same applies to Celebi, AFAIK.

Man, look at what we are complaing :lol:

@AmishSamurai

Lol, they look the same altough it's probably based on Zenigata, also very similar.

Just to totally clear it up, The 3rd in the series is often an enhanced version of the other two, but you still cant catch them all on that one version, which is what I assume you meant by Red & Blue combined. Personally, I like Yellow, but its not really that huge a step up from red and blue. Platinum and emerald have bigger differences, including more available pokemon to catch than the other versions.
