Curious middle aged individuals, the elderly, individuals interested in using video games for weight loss, fans of that series...does it really matter? The point is that someone was interested enough to buy it.3GenGames wrote:Well, IMO, No Mario game released recently is close to the quality of any modern games, so say whatever you will, but galaxy was okay.
With that list, the Antique Roadshow game might be on this list next year......I mean, who bought Just Dance? I've never even heard of it. XD
If you removed the titles I wasn't interested in on that list, you'd have a grand total of...3 titles left, 2 of which would be on the Wii(the other being Red Dead Redemption). To each their own when it comes to gaming, it really doesn't matter what kinds of games you like as long as you like something. If I came to you and said I only enjoyed Miracle Piano on the SNES, would you criticize my choice?
Also, what's not modern about those Mario games? They were released in the last year or so, feature updated graphics and controls, and offer some surprisingly good experiences from what I've seen, heard, and played. And this is coming from a guy that generally despises platformers. I was sold on the New Super Mario Bros Wii when I ran through a level with three of my friends at the same time in the same room. Halo Reach just doesn't provide that kind of experience for me.
I realize you're new to Racketboy.com, so let me take a moment to explain how we generally do things here. Yes, we sometimes argue over titles and nitpick whether we like them. Yes, some of us do have opinions that reflect or oppose the mainstream. But at the end of the day, this site is about discovering both new gems and old classics to play on a variety of consoles. There are guys on here that will proselytize the strengths of the Virtual Boy. Before you go and take the "hardcore gamer" stereotypical anti-Wii position, I suggest you look at the console. I mean really look.
Sure, it might not feature the kinds of games you enjoy. But it does feature titles that many of the guys here have and do enjoy, self included. And there's a good chance there's something hidden on there that you'll like. I don't know your personal tastes, but if you ask, I'm sure we can come up with a suggestion. Perhaps something like House of the Dead: Overkill.
Also, this is just a hypothetical question, and I'm really not expecting a response, but I think it's something you should mull over in your head for a bit: why is it the gamers who consider themselves so hardcore always have some of the narrowest interpretations as to what a video game should be?
