Bootleg Carts

Post by WrathOskvro »

Similar to flojocabron's topic, "Engrish on Game carts", only..post funny/interesting finds of bootleg cartridges. I'll go ahead and start it off with this one, which I find just weird:

My apologies for the picture being tiny. I had trouble finding even this one. I first saw this on TotalMK's YouTube video of his collection, only his cart was yellow. But yeah at first glance, I simply thought "what the hell is this?" XD

Here's another pretty odd one.

Do you own both of these or are these just ones you've seen online?

That Super Wonderful Mario artwork looks awesome. Is that the castle from Tetris crushing the building? Awesome.

I once found a bootleg version of Sonic and Knuckles. As far as I can tell (and I haven't played it much), it's just the Sonic and Knuckles game in a normal Genesis (read: non-linking) cartridge. I thought it was pretty odd at the time, and it wasn't much more than a couple of bucks so I picked it up. I believe it's in my brother's possession at this time. I'll see if I can get a hold of it soon and get some pictures of it.

Technically yes, though that "castle" is actually Saint Basil's Cathedral in Moscow, hence its ending up in Tetris. It makes me wonder if that bootleg originated in Russia.

I've got a couple of GBA bootlegs, for Tactics Ogre" The Knight of Lodis and Legend of Mana. They work quite well and don't drop saves, and it's a kick to pull them out at parties. Not too many people have ever seen a Nintondo game before.

Nah, I don't own those. Wish I did though, that'd be badass. Especially the MK one; I love my MK.

When I had a GBA though I did get a blatant bootleg of Dragonball Z: Legacy of Goku 2. Wrong aspect ratio on the label, and it was basically just the PAL artwork crushed onto the tiny little GBA cart label. It looked really bad.

I have a ton of bootleg Famicom carts from Hong Kong. When I was a kid, all I had was a Famicom and my parents asked relatives to send games from there. I had no idea they were bootlegs until much later. I feel cheated. :(

Was the game itself identical to the real GBC Duke Nukem?

I like GB/GBC/GBA bootlegs that are games not officially available for said systems.
