After Red and Blue the Pokemon just started to get ridiculous. No effort or creativity is put into any of the Pokemon past the original 151. I know I will get a lot of arguments for hating on the newer gen Pokemon, but its the sad truth. I have younger siblings and cousins who are big into Pokemon now, and I just shake my head when I see the crap that they are growing up with compared to what we used to have.

Refer to examples:
Luvdisk?
Hoot Hoot? Are the shitting me?

Everytime I see this argument made, I just feel the urge to point out Voltorb, who is a ball. And Seel. Seel is a seal called seel. So much creativity!

Honestly, i don't feel the overall quality of the designs has gone down, just they dont have the same nostalgia factor the original 150 do.

Where did you find it for that price? That's ludicrously cheap.
Frizz.Meister wrote:Also i read somewhere that you can actually transfer your leaf green pokeom to the newer games??? How does this work and is it worth doing (ie can you only do it after you've trained your newer pokemon up to equal levels?
You have to beat the Elite Four in the new games, then it opens up an area called Pal Park (southern Sinnoh in DPPt, former Kanto Safari Zone in HGSS). If you have a GBA game in the second slot of your DS/DS Lite, it will have a new option on the main menu to transfer your Pokemon. From there, you select six Pokemon that you caught in the GBA game to transfer to the Pal Park. You then go to the Pal Park, are given special Poké Balls (which are essentially Master Balls) and go in and find your Pokemon and catch them.
Frizz.Meister wrote:As for the tiers/leagues how are these games organised? is it shoddy.com?
It depends from site to site. The tiers followed are normally from Smogon.com, but some sites I've seen have different tiers for when they have in-site competitions. All rules that are used are on Shoddy when you start a battle; here are the most common ones that are used in just about every battle:

Evasion Clause - No moves that boost your Pokemon's evasion may be used, such as Double Team and Minimize. This does not include moves that boost or reduce accuracy, such as Sand-Attack or Lock-On.

Freeze Clause - Only one of one team's Pokemon may be frozen at the same time. Because of this, it is illegal to use a move that may cause freezing after one is already frozen. Moves that may freeze are: Blizzard, Ice Beam, Ice Fang, Ice Punch, Powder Snow, Tri Attack, and Secret Power if used during Hail. On Shoddy, it just lowers the chance of freezing the opponent to zero if you use any of these moves.

OHKO Clause - No one-hit knockout moves may be used. OHKO moves are: Fissure, Guillotine, Horn Drill, and Sheer Cold.

Sleep Clause - Only one Pokemon per side may be asleep. If one Pokemon on your opponent's team is already asleep, it is illegal to use a sleep-inducing move.

Species Clause - No team may have two of the same Pokemon. This does not include evolutions such as the Eeveelutions, but does include different forms of the same Pokemon, such as the Rotom Formes.

On Pokemon, what mons are you looking forward to using in BW? I already know I want a Hihidaruma on my team (my friends and I nicknamed him Rape Ape because of the face he makes), and a Dasutodasu, just because of how hilariously derpy it looks.

He's an exploded garbage bag. His face is of pure anguish and agony. He's not screaming his name like other pokemon, he's shouting "WHY DO I EXIST? OH CHRIST PLEASE KILL ME NOW!"

He needs a hug.

99p cartridge only at my local gamestation bargin bin.

As for the rules while some make sense others seems really dumb. For example not being allowed to use ice moves once an enemy pokemon is frozen. Well thats most ice types rendered useless just incase you accidently freeze one and they switch out.

However evasion makes percect sense, as sleep powder plus double team really slows down gameplay.

That's why shoddy battle just makes it impossible to freeze more than one. Wifi matches generally people dont worry about freeze clause though. Sleep Clause however, is basically always enforced, as you can always control when you put something to sleep.

Well, the thing is that even though you're rendered useless, so are they, and they are down a Pokemon themselves, while you can still use that Pokemon to use other moves. The Sleep Clause seems the same way but no sleep moves cause damage. I didn't mention this, but Rest does not count as a Pokemon being put to sleep, meaning that if they have a Pokemon use Rest and switch out, and that's the only Pokemon asleep, you can still use a sleep-inducing move.

Not true. You can do the same for any pokémon in the game:

http://www.smogon.com/ingame/rng/dpp_rng_part4#birdspre

Look down the page, they use a different method in the Program but you can't still get them with flawless IVs (Most, at least).

For some reason Shoddy doesn't boot for me but on the very least I tell you that you can have a flawless Zapdos.

On clauses:

Freeze Clause - Only one of one team's Pokemon may be frozen at the same time. Because of this, it is illegal to use a move that may cause freezing after one is already frozen.

It is perfectly legal to use such an attack. Freeze Clause just prevents two pokémon from being frozen in the Stadium series/Shoddy. Since it can't be controlled if you freeze or not in link battles this clause is not enforced, it's a relic from RBY times.

I'm more excited about the buffs given to old Pokémon than about new ones because a lot of cool pokémon in the border between crap and viable are finally there. Nintetales gets drought, Exeggutor gets Harvest, Porygon2 gets a huge boost to it's defenses, Ditto now instantly transforms! That's a lot of stuff there!

Hmm, didn't know RNG worked for capturing Pokemon. Heck, I never really heard about it outside of the broken clock in Emerald.

Shoddy doesn't let you have perfect IVs for legendaries though, unless this changed anything.

EDIT: A quick check validated what I already knew. I checked Zapdos and you can't have perfect IVs.
