I would probably push RPG back to February. It's a month after Christmas, and its cold, so people will have more time to put in the hours required by most RPGs. Also, I demand a 2D platformer category, as well as a "remake" month, where we play a remake of a classic game.

I would quite like a pinball month. Other than that, I have no particular ideas. Run 'n' Gun, Puzzle, 2D platformer (or perhaps 3D, just for a change), and turn based strategy games would be nice too.

No problem:

Jan: Adventure (zelda/neutopia style)
Feb: Turn Based Strategy
Mar:2D platformer
Apr: Shmup
May: Pinball (something us uni students can play casually while we're drowning in deadlines)
Jun: RPG
Jul: fighting game
Aug: Puzzle
Sep: 3D platformer
Oct: Adventure (point 'n' click)
Nov: Run 'n' Gun
Dec: Beat 'em Up

Yeah, some might think that my list isnt as varied as others, but it's still more varied than the full lists of shmups XD

I guess so. I dont think of them as ARPGs exactly, as that seems more like the likes of the Secret of Mana series. But now isn't the place to get into the whole is zelda and RPG debate, thats been WELL covered on another topic XD

Maybe Golden Axe Warrior would be a good game to try for that :D. I've heard good stuff. Golvellius would be good too, but its on far less systems i think :(

Jan: RPG (cold weather + winter break for many students/faculty)
Feb: 2D fighter (drastic change from long RPGs)
Mar: Puzzle
Apr: Shmup (this should be early so as not to conflict with an annual September shmup competition some of us are in)
May: Adventure
Jun: FPS
Jul: Beat 'Em Up/Brawler/Hack-n-Slash
Aug: Platformer (ideally something with a 2D + 3D version)
Sep: Sports or Racing
Oct: Survival Horror
Nov: Strategy/Tactical (not necessarily an RPG though)
Dec: some hard to define game - why must everything fit in a genre?

Am I really the first to suggest an FPS? Have we ever done one?
