Retro Gaming and Internetting
http://yoshiegg25.blogspot.com/
I decided that I would make a blog and actually update it (somewhat) regularly. It basically is going to cover a lot from the sixth generation of gaming and before, along with some cool stuff I find on the internet. I'll make a post in here every time that I update the blog with a gaming post.
I've just made my second post, and the first one relevant to gaming. This is post is in celebration of the NES's 25th anniversary of being released in the U.S. today, else I'd have probably reviewed something else.
Review: Tecmo Bowl (NES)

Re: Retro Gaming and Internetting Blog
I love Tecmo Bowl.
But check out what wiki says:
he NES version was considered by many to be the first American football game to feature real NFL teams and players. Although LJN's NFL Football was the first, it didn't turn out as successful as Tecmo Bowl did.
hmmm.

NFL Football got the rights from the NFL to use the teams and logos; however, it did not get a license from the NFL Player's Association to use players' names.
Tecmo Super Bowl was the first game to get licenses from both the NFL and NFLPA.

I'm actually going to mention that in the post; thanks Noise.

oh I see (kind of). It's confusing, but I see that there is a distinction.

Yeah, it is confusing. Nowadays, the two licenses are essentially lumped together because you don't want to have one or the other.
They're also lumped together because EA has exclusive rights to both of them by paying an exorbitant amount of money. That's why the Virtual Console release of Tecmo Bowl only has players' numbers instead of their names; they no longer have the license and can't get it back.
