deep scratch on outside of game data

Post by final fight cd »

there is a game that i am looking into buying. the description says that there is a deep scratch outside of the game data - obviously a game on a cd. will game play be effected at all because of this?

the price for the game is amazing, but this one all important bit of info is holding me back from the making the purchase.

i already sent a message to the seller, but who knows when i will get a response back.

Not giving us enough info to judge really. It depends on the system it's for (file layout,) type of game (rpgs are bigger = game data/music more likely to run to the edge, whereas a fighting game should be alright.)

well, i took the plunge.

it was flying keio for the sega cd. it was 75 shipped, which is about 100 less than the going rate on ebay.

the description said the cd was fine, expect for the very edge, which had the deep scratch. if it is fucked, i can still probably sell the case/instructions and get most of my money back.

Oh, it shouldn't be a problem then. Sega CD games are very rarely filled up, and if they are it's usually with music. It won't affect playability at all, and audio shouldn't have any problems either.

So yeah...enjoy!

You should be ok. Keio took about 450mb on a disk and since the Sega CD used disks with 650mb of possible storage there really shouldn't be any data on the outer rim of the disk.

Well unless he's played it in its entirety, it may or may not f-up on you towards the end (as data is written from the inside to out).
IIRC, there's no copy protection on it - I'd ask him to make a copy of it and if it fails on any data sectors, well, there's your answer. If not, that's a good deal~

(GEN, SS x3, DC x3)*(PCE-Duo)*(Xbox:500GB)*(NGCDZ, NGPC)*(PS1, PStwo, PS3:160GB, PSP.3K)

Data portion of Keio is only about 65mb, so data is not going to be a problem.

i haven't read through any of ebay's buyer protection, but if it doesn't work that MIGHT have me covered, since he did say it played fine.

i MIGHT have gotten a bit too excited and made the purchase too quickly. but when i saw that BIN for 75 with free shipping it was too hard to resist!

If the scratch is on the bottom, maybe a buffing in a good machine will take care of it too.
