Oh yes I see what you meant now. Having a working drive around is still useful yes. You can even daisy chain the 1541-U with a 1541 and dump disks just as if you were making a copy.

There's also those X1541 cables to dump/write disks with a PC, but I haven't tried that.

Just saying, as i appreciate these computers.....even if their Basic was inferior to.... -gulp-.....Microsoft Basic.

Commodore BASIC was Microsoft BASIC. So was Applesoft BASIC and CoCo BASIC.
