i just beat the fuck out of gaiares! and this ain't no joke. i don't think i have ever spent so much time and effort trying to beat a level boss. and it isn't even the end boss; the end boss is nothing but bitch work. it's the 7th level boss that is the pain in the ass. he has 3 or 4 different things going on, and they each have its own pattern.

but overall, i thought the game was awesome. i think it might be my favorite shmup to date. the soundtrack was pretty good too. check out level 5 music:
it gets good at 20 seconds. too bad bar jukeboxes don't carry "gaiares - level 5" in its database.

I played King of Monsters 2: The Next Thing tonight so that I could participate in Together Retro. I know that the original game is the focus of TR this month, but I only had King of Monsters 2 avaiable to me. I can't believe how hard this game was... I had to credit feed the shit out of it! The bosses got harder and harder, and the boss rush near the end was a serious pain in the ass. As frustratingly difficult as the game was, I did have a blast playing it. Fits in rather well with the Halloween season!

I finally beat this game after sitting on hit for a month. I just got distracted by other things, which is too bad, as I think this game is awesome. I'll now be going through some of the DLC. October seems the perfect time to play The Zombie Island of Dr. Ned.

Deathsmiles was awesome, and really fit in with the Halloween season. I'm glad that it has so many extra modes to help up the replay value!

My sister and I played through House of the Dead 2 & 3 Return and House of the Dead: Overkill last night and had a blast. It's so fun to play these types of games with a partner! We both really got a kick out of the horrible voice acting in HotD 2, and intentionally bad voice acting in Overkill. Agent G has to be one of my favorite video game characters in quite a long time! I'm thinking I'm going to try to get the Resident Evil Chronicles games next to see if I can get my sister to play them with me.

Overkill is awesomely bad, its the Evil Dead of the light gun world.
