Does anyone know if....

Post by NintenBroke »

Talking to a friend who has an old original NES system, I was showing him my DS and the way you can play roms from a microSD card and he asked me if they make a "cartridge" that fits in the original NES that would take either an SD or microSD card to play roms from. I have searched but haven't found anything like this, it would be pretty cool because you could put 1 cartridge in the system and play all the games for it without ever removing that 1 cartridge and then you get around the bad pin connection/dirty cartridge thing. So does anyone know if such a thing exists, if not, some of you technically gifted guys, there is you a moneymaker, I get 1 free for the idea though, :D

Thank you so much, I guess I wasn't putting the correct wording in my searches. I appreciate the reply. If anyone knows another source for these please let me know, my friend wants one.

A NES flash cart isn't an easy thing to make because of the 100+ different mappers that NES games use. The PowerPak is the only one available to use right now.

I just bought one (went temporarily unavailable after my purchase - keep checking back though) and it's fantastic. You should definitely get one! You can't play EVERY game off them, some mappers aren't supported (yet). But you can even play Famicom Disk System games from it now! I was blown away how well the FDS games work, you can even save use the save feature in them.

There are actually flash carts for just about any system you can think of. Except Neo-Geo for some reason.

The collecting spirit in the Neo-Geo community?
The expensive hardware?
It's a pain in the ass to do?

Not only can the powerpak play NES games, it gets more compatable every time a update comes out, you just changed theSD card files and BAM! More games. Although 95% of games work on it now. Only a select select few don't work, so it's not a big problem. Just go get a cart of those games. :P

I can't wait to get one.....or 10! :P

Retrousb is easily the best NES site for new games and such. It's amazing.
