This is even worse than any good Genesis games?

Huh? I was just asking for some recommendations.. :|

Because there are probably 400+ games that are good for the PS2. Instead of just looking at the top MetaCritic scores or even RacketBoy's platform defining series, or about a billion zillion other sources, you just shit out another "recommend me some obvious shit" thread on the RB message boards. If you even have a cursory experience with google or the internet then this thread is moot from post 1.

I don't think there's anything wrong with him asking. Perhaps he values our opinions over Metacritic scores, or is hoping to see suggestions that aren't on the Racketboy guide. I'm honestly not trying to be a jerk here, but I really don't see the point of you crapping in his thread. If you think the topic is that offensive, take it up with a mod and don't post in it.

Well, it was a harsh response, but I do agree with FiftyDollarCurse. There has been a lot of tell me "How to spend my money" posts lately clogging up the front page. Everyone has their own favorites and we end up getting the same redundant responses. A simple reminder with a link "look in the topics or review forums" should suffice.

Bring in some real "Meat and Potatoes" discussion!

I understand. I will keep that in mind next time I make a thread. Sorry.

No worries, and nothing wrong with ever posting a comment or query.
Especially no apologies needed, I'm just another member like you.

Yikes you guys are kinda rough. I know we don't want to have the same thread a dozen times over but wow.

OP, great pick up for $13! Especially if that's $13 Canadian. The PS2 is practically the NES of the last generation. You're going to have no problem finding some real winners for it and right now is the perfect time to start your collection; PS2 games will NEVER be cheaper or easier to find than they are right now.
Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?

Yikes, kinda quick to jump down the new guy's throat, aren't yall? While I understand fiftydollarcurse's opinion (though I disagree with his language choices), I also can see this from jfe2's perspective. And let's face it, he could have done a Google search, sure...but then, that can be done for many of the questions that get asked here without conclusive results. If I want Saturn titles, I can do a Google search. Interested in survival horror? Google search. Which is better, Sega Genesis or Super Nintendo? GOOGLE SEARCH!

But maybe he wanted our thoughts. Yes, we should point him to the guides. In the future Yosh, always search the site for guides on whatever console. But if you have done that and want to delve deeper, tell us you've done it and that's what you want! It's part of the fun! And yes, discussion will come back to many of us saying what we like and what we don't like, but he still might want to hear our thoughts and gripes before making a decision.

As for checking old threads, it is possible for our opinions and tastes to change, especially as we delve deeper into a console's library. I've found many games for the PS2 that I didn't know existed when I first joined this site, and I don't mind talking about them.

But yosh, there is an issue you haven't mentioned yet. The PS2 is strong in just about every genre. What types of games do you like?

RPGs, platformers, 2d shooters (Contra, Metal Slug), Street Fighter is awesome so I guess I could give some other 2d fighters a go, beat 'em ups, like i said before, basically anything but sports games. :)

Oh if you like 2D fighters definitely give the King of Fighters compilations a go. Also, Dragonball Z Budokai 3 is an amazing fighter. On the more technical side, the Guilty Gears games are pretty keen.
