This is unacceptable.
Contrary to the popular misconception, diversity should not be celebrated. Unity should.

The United States’ strength has always been in the celebrated “melting pot” ideal, where people of differing cultures come here to become AMERICANS, without the descriptive hyphen we hear too often.

We are not African-Americans, Irish-Americans, Mexican-Americans, German or French-Americans. We are Americans. The hyphen should be left at the door when entering…LEGALLY.
this guy has the right idea.

I don't understand the current trend to "celebrate diversity". It feels to often like we have to celebrate for the sake of celebrating.

Sorry, but the "melting pot" is and always was a myth, just like the "American dream." It is an erasure of identity. Yes, celebrating diversity for the sake of diversity is somewhat silly. But, recognizing difference and how it structures social relations is a necessity for a culture that purports to be democratic, free, and inclusive.

Shit, I bet most of them are just fine with being circumcised.

I'm not cool with the inhumane slaughtering of animals, if that is what this will lead to.

Oh, don't worry. Rather than slaughter the animals, they simply skin them and butcher them alive. The animals don't die until a few minutes later. If the meat comes off a dead animal, it's not Halal.

Seriously, though, what do you think they do to the animals?

Honestly, if we're killing them to eat them I don't think it really matters how we slaughter them. It's like swabbing a death row inmate's arm with alcohol before giving him the lethal injection.

I admittedly don't know much about halal meat. I eat at a restaurant that serves it (dunno if it's exclusively or if you have to ask for it).

But somehow I don't think the suffering of animals is the first thing that comes to mind for these whackos boycotting campbells. It's a secondary argument that happens to be better than their actual argument.

You can bet if halal meat wasn't part of the issue at all and it was just PETA saying campbells gets their meat from a source that promotes animal cruelty, none of these people would have even heard about it, much less care.

If you research how Halal meat is prepared, it's actually quite the opposite.. As is Kosher.. They basically feed the animal healthy food and drain all the blood when they slaughter it along with saying a prayer.. Muslim and Jewish cultures take slaughtering animal for meat and survival seriously, so they try to prepare meat as humanely as they can... I think they view the blood as sacred, therefore it's of disrespect to consume the blood of said animal that's slaughtered..

Wow these people sure do like getting worked up. Every time I see someone going on about how Muslims are taking over the earth I can't help but feel sorry for them.
