91% rubbing alcohol, white eraser, and q-tips for me. I need to get some contact cleaner sometime.

I laughed a little when someone cleaned their carts on gamefaqs with cologne. As long as you don't use anything with ammonia like rubbing alcohol/contact cleaner you should be good. Like Hobbie-wan said, it is a good idea to open up your games to see what you're cleaning. Makes it ten times easier.

Windex contains ammonia and other stuff that will leave a residue behind.

Windex-like products typically contain detergents, ammonia, fragrance to moderate the odor of ammonia, and some form of dye.

It would keep it from corroding any further, but you'd have an oily mess which would prohibit an electrical connection. Never use WD40 on anything electrical.

You guys are all wrong, its Drano. Just drunk the cart in a bucket full of it, then pull it out after 5 minutes with your bare hands. 60% of the time, it works every time!

Electrical contact cleaner is usually a very high concentration isoproyl alcohol mixture, or some sort of freon solution. I would assume these are appropriate for contacts on game cartridges, since they are still electrical contacts.

Whoever said alcohol corrodes games may have heard that another common solution, blowing into the connector causes corrosion (which is true) and confused the two very common methods of cleaning. Strong alcohol solutions can also dissolve a little of the plastic outer casing slightly. That part is probably okay to clean with 409 instead, but it won't make your games work any better.
