I laughed at your OP also, because I recognize it as the kanji for Gaiden...noiseredux wrote:Pfft whatever. Don't even try to tell me that it doesn't LOOK like the word "THE". C'mon. I probably asked a question that other people wondered but never asked. Oh well.
...but...
I also thought it said "THE" when I was younger.

You should feel better for thinking it was the word "the", as opposed to the Japanese nerds who know how to write gaiden in kanji. Actual people from Japan are excluded from 'japanese nerds'.
Re: Ninja Gaiden vs. Ninja The Gaiden
I'm doing that to my friends from now on.

Hey dude, I think we're "Japanese nerds". Shame on us for learning the language of the country we lived in for years.

No shit, eh? How about all these England nerds we have here, using English all the time? Most of them have never even been to England!hashiriya1 wrote:Breetai wrote: I recognize it as the kanji for Gaiden...

This thread was good for a smile
I can easily see a "the" there as well, but as it requires some effort I wouldn't have thought it was a "the" (but who knows, if I was younger). Anyway it was just a question.
Seriously though, it is better to not be too self-conscious (if you actually are, I think some of you are just putting it on a bit). You are who you are and hopefully are happy about it, thus try not to mind too much those who want to label you as this or that.

Re: Ninja Gaiden vs. Ninja The Gaiden
I find it really funny the quips on the bottom of the cover:
"A strategic encounter" ; "The fight of your life". It seems very 90s to me (of course, it also has a Ninja in the cover, to compound the feeling of being from the 90s).

Re: Ninja Gaiden vs. Ninja The Gaiden
I guess I can excuse the mistake of thinking it was called Ninja THE Gaiden from the first box, but the second box clearly states that it is the "sequel to Ninja Gaiden".
If it makes you feel any better, I always called Milon's Castle "Million's Castle".
