I'd say Kid Icarus, but poor Pit doesn't really seem to have a Franchise. Probably the Mother (Earthbound) series as my number one, followed by the Donkey Kong Country series as number two. Zelda as my number three. :)

Mario has been my favorite video game character since 1987 when I got my NES for Christmas. The games on the NES and SNES are just pure magic.

Mario. I don't really like the Zelda series, but it's only my opinion, there's nothing really wrong with them. Kirby's fun, but I haven't played much of it. Most of the others I've only played one game out of the whole series.

This is a tough one but I am going to have to go with Kirby. Kirby games have all the qualities I look for in games and above all else are universally loved. You don't run into much Kirby hate. Above all else Kirby Superstar is one of the greatest achievements in gaming(IMO) and should be required playing for any gamer.

From those choices, Starfox. Easily, no contest

Too bad Starfox and Starfox 64 are the only games in that "franchise" worth mentioning

No option for Star Tropics?

I still would have picked Metroid anyway.

Definitely Legend of Zelda for me. Aside from Wind Waker, I think it's the only one with any real Mature appeal. *Notice I didn't say "hardcore." I wanted to. But I'm getting really sick of that word when used in conjunction with video games*

I lost interest in Mario a long time ago. I still enjoy the Mario Kart games. But the normal Mario adventure games are a little too "cutesy and bouncy" for me. Especially with all that damned "hee hee" and "woo hoo!" I grew out of that as soon as I got my Sega Genesis. :D

I have respect for the Metroid series. But I think I'd like it a lot better if Samus were a man instead of a female. I'm not sexist or anything. I just prefer to assume the role of a man, like most games. Plus, I miss the old 2D style of gameplay

Had to have been the hardest choice I've made in a poll.

I said Mario, mostly because my earlier years were spent around those games (Paper Mario dominated my first grade.) Pokemon has a special place in my heart because I am a HUGE RPG fan, though it has fallen in recent years. I haven't played many of the recent Kirby games myself, though the ones I have played I thought were pretty good. (I loved Amazing Mirror, but single player sucks because the AI is retarded)

Donkey Kong never really held my interest because my first exposure was Donkey Kong Land 2 on Game Boy and I never got into it. Zelda is kind of and up and down thing for me, I love the puzzle solving and the exploration, but by the end of the game I get Gamer's ADD and move on to something else. Same goes for Metroid, but I haven't had much experience with it, only 80%'ed Zero Mission, trying to track down a cheap copy of Super Metroid.

Super Smash Bros. is amazing in it's own right. It's a great fighting game and a great multiplayer experience. Animal Crossing, however, I find extremely stale after a while, since one has to play it every day to get the full experience, and the game seems to punish you for NOT playing it, which I feel isn't fair.

And now for what I like to call "the chosen four". Earthbound, Star Fox, F-Zero, and Pikmin. All four of these games tend to be....abused by Nintendo. Earthbound was REALLY close to getting my vote because, again, huge RPG fan, and that series of games is just amazing to me. I still feel like F-Zero could be successful, and I completely LOVED F-Zero GX, which has to be one of my favorite racing games of all time. I wish Nintendo would just sell the rights to Captain Falcon and the rest of the characters to Sega so they could publish a new game on other consoles, though I know it won't happen, or it would bust like the Banjo games. Star Fox is a really great shooting game, not really good enough to call it Nintendo's Halo or anything, but I felt Assault was pretty damn good. I don't see why it gets as much flack as it does. It's not a BAD game, and I feel it's the best Star Fox since 64, if they fine tuned the controls and the Landmaster then it'd be a great game, if Nintendo would give it a chance anyway. Pikmin is pretty recent and I feel that it's a great RTS. I know they've confirmed a new Pikmin, but we haven't seen any screenshots or trailers for it, so I'm just in blind anticipation.

TL;DR: Mario wins.
