This movie wasnt that bad actually considering I despise Facebook, but the film score which was by Trent Reznor is fantastic

As far as I'm aware it was his first film and Fox was dicking him around in a big way trying to control the film to be what they deemed profitable, and we all know what happens when suits control artistic direction of a film.Or a game or a record or a book or really anything.

Yeah, you have a point. And though it is my least favorite of the four Alien films, it still is better than the recent AvP films. Plus, Alien 3 looks great - even if the film isn't that good. I've seen Fincher's director's cut (which is better) and heard his commentary about FOX, but I don't know that he is completely blameless for the faults of the film...

Your probably right, I just get really annoyed when number crunchers start trying to control a film and basing their decisions on the results of focus group studies (because a group of people who know zero about film are the best people to tell them what should be in a movie). I'd rather just let a director loose to try to realise their own vision their own way.

Maybe it was largely Finchers own inexperience that caused Alien 3 to be the mess it was, and certainly Fox was paying the bills so they had right to have their say. But all the best films (or any form of artistic expression) have always come from people passionately championing their own ideas, not reading polls and deciding what is popular at the time.

Wow, that kinda turned into a bit of a rant, wasn't expecting that.

I am a huge NIN fan, but apparently a bit out of the loop lately. I didn't even know Trent was working on this.

It's pretty good. I don't know if it's particularly spectacular, I wouldn't run around proclaiming this as one of fincher's best, but it's pretty damn good.

Fincher does his usual slap a green filter on ever other scene deal, which can get bothersome since he's been doing this for far too long, but it doesn't really hurt the film all that much.

Justin Timberlake of all people has one of the best performances in the film. Which was extremely odd considering it never even crossed my mind that it was JT as shawn green. Hats off to him.


It's all pretty interesting and I can't really think of any movement in the film that I found myself getting bored or where the film had trailed off. I was pretty interested the entire time, though never enthralled. Pretty good movie, just not remarkable.

I read this quote from the movie today, became totally uninterested in it:

Zuckerberg: I think if your clients want to sit on my shoulders and call themselves tall, they have the right to give it a try - but there's no requirement that I enjoy sitting here listening to people lie. The rest of my attention is back at the offices of Facebook, where my colleagues and I are doing things that no one in this room, including and especially your clients, are intellectually or creatively capable of doing. (Pause) Did I adequately answer your condescending question?

Because the dude is practically saving humanity by running a social networking website. One wonders how civilization got by without Facebook.
