If we look at more mainstream bands I also like Disturbed

I've enjoyed various works from other bands too, but it's hard to remember and list every single metal song or album I've ever liked

I don't know if we can call them metal, but I've been listening to a lot of Blue Oyster Cult lately(Dominance and Submission in particular is a badass song). I've also been getting into a lot of bands featured in the Supernatural tv show like Triumph and Eagles of Death Metal

Favorite vocalists:Matt Barlow, Kahn from Kamelot, Tarja from Nightwish and James Hetfield back when he was in his prime. There are some other great ones too

EDIT:As this a gaming site, I also must say that Brutal Legend is one of my favorite games

You have excellent taste in music.

Some metal bands I've gotten into over the years/still listen to a lot:
Dream Theater
Symphony X
Protest the Hero
Human Abstract
As I Lay Dying
All That Remains
Kamelot
Bullet for My Valentine
Children of Bodom
The Agonist
Dark Moor
I Am Ghost (though not really very metal, still fantastic. Wish they hadn't broken up)

Hell yeah! You got to love Priest! "Painkiller" is their most successful release since their epic "British Steel" LP. And as far as Metallica goes, I *only* liked their *first two* LPs. I think they went downhill since the "Master of Puppets" LP.

AwesomeMonstar wrote:Up the Irons. Then again, I;m curious as to how these guys can be considered as part of some new wave movement seeing as they've been around since the 70's.

Well, according to heavy metal articles I have come around on the Internet regarding the term "New Wave of British Heavy Metal," it was former Kerrang!/Sounds magazine editor Geoff Barton who coined it. It was heavy metal's response to the punk rock movement that had been stirring up a lot of attention in the United Kingdom at that time (late '70s). So, this movement was/is considered by many (including myself) the revival of mainstream interest in heavy metal, with so many up-and-coming bands with no member surpassing the age of 19 or 20 gaining recognition within the underground music world. Unfortunately, not every NWOBHM band made it big, besides Def Leppard and Iron Maiden. Yes, you heard me right! They once had a hard rocking debut LP that was at the same level as Maiden’s debut.
It’s fun knowing about your favorite genre of music. :)

Anyone like death metal bands such as Death, Atheist, Pestilence, Obituary, Cancer, Possessed, etc.? Old school for life! \m/

Black Sabbath, Slayer, Iron Maiden. in that order. i swear i could listen to black sabbath for the rest of my life.

i also really, really like a lot of heavier hardcore bands like Botch, Turmoil, early Cave In, Jesuit, Shai Hulud, etc. there's some nu-metalcore that i think is alright (Misery Signals comes to mind), but most of the bands like that i think are just junk (bullet for my valentine, whitechapel, emmure, job for a cowboy... yuck.)

Metallica (all albums, not just "pre-black").
Been hooked ever since Master of Puppets was released.
Been to tons of their shows in different countries, i friggan love their music.
Yeah, Lars is a bit of a douche, but Kirk's badassery cancels that out.

Other than that....
Pantera, Cold, Slayer, Lamb of God, X, Sepultura, Megadeth, Deicide, Judas Priest, Diamond Head, Therapy?, Guns N Roses, among others. Faith No More is my favorite band of all time, but I don't consider them metal.

I am listening to Rebel Meets Rebel right now at work

I love all of that. Bolt Thrower, Morbid Angel, Vader, Immolation, Suffocation, I could go on and on :)

Pretty excited for the new Atheist album coming out soon.

I like Strapping Young Lad (and Devin Townsend's solo material) a ton too. Probably the most 'modern' stuff that I'm really into.

I disagree. ...And Justice for All is probably my favorite album of all time. After that one, though, I think we're probably on the same page.

I wouldn't really call myself a huge metal fan, but pretty much the only music I buy is thrash metal, prog metal, and prog rock. I like a few of the older Megadeth albums, and honestly I think their recent output has been great. The only Slayer I've listened to is Reign in Blood, but I really like it. Chris Poland's band Ohm is pretty good, imo. They aren't really metal, I mention him because he's formerly of Megadeth and their stuff is really technical. I really like Dream Theater but wish they weren't so darn corny so much of the time. I only have one Dragonforce album, but I really like it.

I approve of this thread. I really love Thrash Metal, bands like:

Slayer, Megadeth, Exodus, Anthrax, Overkill, Forbidden, Death Angel, Testament, Annihilator and Dark Angel

I recently saw Megadeth, Slayer, and Anthrax togther and it was awesome. If you guys can go to the Jager tour. Forbidden and Overkill are also touring togther so I am really excited.

I also like progressive, power, speed metal, and some death metal.

Death, Symphony X, Iced Earth, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Helloween, Cynic, Athiest, Exciter, King Diamond and Pestilence
Where's my chippy? There's my chippy.

I'm a fan of The Dillinger Escape Plan, Machine Head, Deftones, Damage Plan, Slayer, Static-X and Pantera. Hell, I even like some Slipknot.
