Yeah, I know. I was actually a bit surprised that no one beat me to answering that last question. Jet Grind Radio is sort of like the foundation of this siteOpa Opa wrote:It would be kind of sad if he didn't know the answer. I think he posted the game in about 15 guides/articles.Gamerforlife wrote:If racketboy was online, he SOOOOO would have answered that one![]()

Thanks everyone, I appreciate it!
707 made sure to include a little clue in almost all of the cover art images. He either gave away which system it was for, or who the publisher was, etc. Go back and take a look, they are there. Just finding little clues like that will really narrow the search. Then just use your favorite game DB (Mobygames or Gamefaqs is what I primarily use) to look at possible candidates.
If you can't get enough clues, well, you just have to wait for 707 to give another clue. The more you narrow the search, the less games you have as possibilities.
In previous NTG rounds, a lot of the screen shots were pulled straight from images created by emulators, so you could often narrow down the systems by the resolution of the image. Just little things like all add up. 707 made that a bit more difficult by putting the images in his TV, and sometimes cropping them a bit.
The set times were really an advantage for me. I just used my break time at work to look during the set times, and that way I wasn't having to check back constantly throughout the day. I know some people would rather have random times, but that would be too hard for me (and probably others). Although I do agree something should be done to prevent people from running away with it.
DSH's playoff system is actually a pretty good idea. Just take the top X after time Y, and then cut to playoffs. Another advantage the playoffs offer is that it guarantees that X people will get be competing to the very end, and they will all have an equal shot at the questions.
I know it would be a pain for the host, but if the playoff style that DSH created was used for the entirety of the round, it would give multiple people the chance to answer the same question. The drawback is that you would need a mod to restrict posting, so no one spoils the answer... as well as the flood of PMs the host would receive.
Anyhow, I don't want to ask the hosts to do anymore than they already do. It already takes a ton of time to host one of these rounds. And obviously hosts are free to run their rounds anyway they want, and no one way is the 'perfect' way. Just offering up some thoughts.
Mystery package is on its way here. I will post pics once I get the package.
Thanks 707!
It's really not as tough as you would think. I knew very few of these from just looking at the image. There were a few easy ones I knew right off the bat, but for the most part, I took Hobie's advice from round 1. Just take clues from the image, and narrow your search from there. You can get a pretty decent idea of what generation the game is from, then try to get details from the image. Easy clues would be: if its a sports game, looks for games of that sport, etc.Gamerforlife wrote:This seemed pretty tough to me

spirit, I used the same strategy as you. You were just much quicker at it than me most of the time. Anyway, good job.

Congrats spiritplx! Good show once again!
This is an intriguing idea but would indeed take a lot of work. I'll think about it for the future (maybe some time early next year).spiritplx wrote: I know it would be a pain for the host, but if the playoff style that DSH created was used for the entirety of the round, it would give multiple people the chance to answer the same question. personally I think random times worked better. Sometimes it would be like 3:04 and I'd be busy and just know that Spirit was already scouring mobygames for the answer.
