How many Dreamcast VMU's?
on an official vmu? I've heard it doesn't work on the 4 in one type cards but never anything bad when its on an official vmu.Mozgus wrote:Don't bother. I have 10 official vmus and two 4 in 1 nexus cards so I can upload to the PC. They are worth it IF you have the link cable and use it. It helps with PSO just in case you disconnect and lose your items you can just restore your items. Also download and upload saves easily. I would recommend the nexus cards... you can buy them directly from them.
I usually change the icon on my vmu and use that to help me sort them out. Certain VMU's I use for certain games like an RPG vmu and a Sonic vmu etc etc. I had an excell sheet to help me sort everything out but I got lazy and stopped updating it.
I thought unlocking the extra blocks could be done with ANY vmu. I know nexus has a blank vmu with the blocks unlocked for use with their card.

I don't even know how many sega VMUs I have at this point. I have 8 of the things plugged into the 4 controllers total all the time, and a little basket full of them sitting off to the side. I just keep finding them when I go to Goodwill and other thrift stores looking for old NES and SNES games, and they're always so cheap I can't resist. I once got 4 sega VMUs for $1 at a yard sale. If you have any interest in old games and go looking for them often, you'll soon find yourself drowning in VMUs.

I have...
1 3rd party memory card (from Performance) and 2 official Sega VMU's (and I can't save to one of them, but use it in controller 2 for the VMU screen in the few 2-player games where it shows useful information, like Ikaruga where the VMU screen shows how many chains you have) plus 2 vibration packs: one for each controller. One's a Sega vibration pack and the other is 3rd party. I am probably gonna try to get a working VMU to replace the flaky one, and eventually the official Sega 4X memory card. As I'm on a Macintosh, I don't see much use for the PC compatible 4X mem card. I've heard there's a 2X mem card? Also I read somewhere about a combination vibration pack and memory card? Can that one be both a vibe pack and mem card simultaneously?
i´d say the nexus cards are reliable. I´ve been using a 16mb one for about a year now and not had any problems.Curlypaul wrote:Right, time to start gathering them up I guess. I think I'll get an official one for the sake of collecting it and I'll look out for some of the Nexus cards if you reckon they are reliableThe link cable looks mighty handy also
Thanks very much
