I love me some october fright filled games..heres my pics ill be playing.
Night warriors:darkstalkers revenge (saturn).its like one big halloween party!!
Alone in the dark:the new begining(dreamcast).very impress with how the dreamcast runs this game.
tecmos deception(ps1).unless the difficulty and/or learning curve turn me off.
castlevania chronicles(ps1)
Call of cthulhu(xbox).I think this fits into the agenda.
geist(gamecube). This game is underappreciated give it a whirl.Wanna posses a rat in a trap?Or a bucket of paint?Basically posses pretty much anything.Play it and you will see. Also kinda reminds me of a FPS Blue stinger.
Manhunt 1&2 or Fatal frame 1,2,3(PS2)-both are great series. Will see which one hooks me more.
Last but not least my favorite modern horror game only on XBOX 360....
Deadly Premonition.Think of it as an Uber polished dreamcast/xbox game and let the ride begin.
also enjoying this month Front mission evolved..
And looking foward to Vanquish...

If you can see the future while remembering the past, you may just have control of the present.

So Ultimate Ghosts n' Goblins is tough as nails and frustrating. Not sure if I like it or not, though it sure does look pretty.
I am a few hours into Silent Hill 2 and so far am finding it to be a good game. I even had my first encounter with Pyramid Head who was, um, doing something disturbing in a kitchen while I hid in the closet and watched.
I don't remember these sexual undertones in Silent Hill 1 or in the parts I've played of SH3 or Homecoming. Is this unique to SH2? If so, too bad - it is a nice touch

I liked the Maximo games. There were difficult, but not as punishing as the Ghosts n Goblins/Ghouls n Ghosts games. They maintained the same style and humor though. I may run through those again this Halloween. Don't think we actually mentioned them in this thread yet.dsheinem wrote:So Ultimate Ghosts n' Goblins is tough as nails and frustrating. I sat down for a little bit with Alien 3 on the SNES yesterday. I think I'm going to have to play this one one easy. The levels are insanely long, comprised of, like, ten missions each. I don't really like the idea of playing for an hour, only to die on the last mission and have to do them all over.
Systems: TI-99/4a, Commodore Vic-20, Atari 2600, NES, SMS, GB, Neo Geo MVS (Big Red 4-slot), Genesis, SNES, 3DO, PS1, N64, DC, PS2, GBA, GCN, NDSi, Wii

I've never played an easy Ghosts 'n Goblins game! For whatever reason, I'm addicted to them though...how does it compare to the others in difficulty?dsheinem wrote:So Ultimate Ghosts n' Goblins is tough as nails and frustrating. Not sure if I like it or not, though it sure does look pretty.
I've been playing quite a few games to get me in the Halloween mood. Dead Space: Extraction has been great so far, and has actually managed to make me jump a few times. The story is actually interesting too, which surprised me for some reason. I guess I wasn't expecting much. I'm having a lot of fun so far, but I wish I had someone who was willing to play some co-op with me!
I played through a cool castle defense game on the iPhone called Monster Mayhem, and that was totally addicting. The upgradeable weapons and interesting boss fights kept me wanting more. I picked it up for free last week and now that I've beat it, I think its safe to say that I would have gladly paid!
After beating Monster Mayhem, I picked Plants vs. Zombies on the iPhone for $0.99 and started that. I already have it on Steam, but it will be easier to finish on a portable device since I've been out so much lately.
Last but not least, I promised my son he could play some "Halloween Street Fighter" today, which is better known to us as Nightwarriors: Darkstalkers' Revenge. I'm gonna bust out the ASCII Saturn stick and watch him school the computer later on.

No, the sexual undertones are purely James shtick, which is part of the reason why Silent Hill 2 is considered the best in the series. Everything down to the monster design and their actions directly relates to James and why he's there. It's also part of the reason some folks claim Silent Hill builds a personal hell for everyone who goes there.dsheinem wrote:I am a few hours into Silent Hill 2 and so far am finding it to be a good game. that makes sense, Ack. For instance in real life I love to eat tacos. But that time I visited Silent Hill there were tacos trying to eat me.

That makes sense to me. How would you rate the SH games best to worst, Ack? I've only beaten 1, but I've played some of Homecoming and SH3, and now some of 2.Ack wrote:No, the sexual undertones are purely James shtick, which is part of the reason why Silent Hill 2 is considered the best in the series.
