Well the D-pad broke on it LMAO!!! It felt light and cheap and after a few weeks the "up" broke on it as I was playing 3rd strike on the computer... It definitely wasn't the official saturn pad, but a cheap knockoff that looked almost identical... I tried to do my best molding work possible to get it to work and to no avail... Wasted 2 hours trying to fix this damn thing... Anyways, I'm just curious if there is any good usb saturn pads that use the identical Sega hardware that is as sturdy as the original saturn controllers... Hell, I'd also would like to know if they sell the model 1 saturn controllers with a usb cord.. I have bigger hands and even though the shoulder buttons and d-pad are slightly worse, the controller is very snug...
Not sure if this is the right forum to post this.. I could have posted in this in the sega board, but I felt that since this was a hardware malfunction, that it could be posted here??
I bought a saturn Usb pad a few weeks ago..

I'm glad I never wasted my money on one of those. I was actually considering it before I got my Saturn and felt of the real thing.
Anyway, what you should do is get a legit Saturn pad and just get one of those converter boxes. They do make them. It's a Mayflash PC 3-in-1 Joybox.

The build quality was great on the early ones but as word got out the price went up and the quality came down (they were around $7 when I got mine) Is the PCB shot or jut the plastics? I would recommend getting an official saturn pad and swapping the casing, buttons and rubber pads over it'll improve the feel no end.

Really? I bought mine new only a few weeks ago and it's a great pad. I've never used an original Saturn pad so can't say if it feels just like the real deal, but I must say that it feels about as good as my Megadrive 6 button pads.

The only way to deactivate the ray beam and fight back the vampire alien threat is with a complicated series of foot patterns on the device's control board that looks remarkably like a DDR pad. We will all praise this man for saving our lives and buy him a mountain of stuffed animals.

It was the plastic frame under the D-pad... Other than that, the pad worked great... It was the cheapo retrolink version... I think I'm going to order the "SLS" pads from China, but like you said, I've been hearing that the quality has gone down.. Like mine, those pads I heard have issues with D-Pad breaking as well, but they are cheap so why not? Beats paying more for a Madcatz Pad that will break as well..Krooner wrote:The build quality was great on the early ones but as word got out the price went up and the quality came down (they were around $7 when I got mine) Is the PCB shot or jut the plastics? In that case defiantly consider putting the PCB in an original pad, it' workout cheaper than importing another, depending on what you pay for the saturn pad obviously.EvilRyu2099 wrote:It was the plastic frame under the D-pad... I've read a lot of reviews on these recently and it seems there are a couple different models. One is made by 3rd parties (like Retrolink) and the other is made by Sega. The Sega ones are superior in quality.
Here are some fake ones:
http://cgi.ebay.com/NEW-WHITE-PC-MAC-US ... 230a9088f6
http://cgi.ebay.com/New-Sega-Saturn-USB ... 5d292a1bfe
Here is the real deal by Sega
http://cgi.ebay.com/2-Genuine-SEGA-Satu ... 3351e0fb78
I would be careful and check the feedback before buying any. Even though the picture may show the ones with the Sega label, they may send you the knock-off ones.

well i just bought a retrolink from gogamer so we'll see. i'm not a hardcore gamer, but i thought since these still work with the new ps3 update it would be worth a shot.
Re: I bought a saturn Usb pad a few weeks ago..
They're all knock offs, Sega haven't manufactured these for years the better ones have an SLS sticker but they're not official. these are all made in the same warehouse, if you ask to buy in bulk they'll outline a grading system A-C based on the quality of the build but later reports suggest even the A grade aren't what they were.Purkeynator wrote:I've read a lot of reviews on these recently and it seems there are a couple different models.
