It is really fun, I'm glad I picked it up! It's actually pretty difficult IMO. I made it to the boss in the church that throws little ghost things around and then turns into a goat. Once he goes all Altered Beast on me, its over. I just need to get used to his pattern I guess!

I'm actually glad you guys are all handling this, as I really don't have the time to do much this year unfortunately. I've been dragging my feet on a lot of stuff because of my schedule the last few months. Hell, I've got a horror gaming blog where I kept up the reviews from last year's Halloween, but I've been horrible at updating it, so there's something like six entries. The link is in my signature.

Anyway, here's what I'll try to sit down with over the course of the month:

Silent Hill
The Thing
Extermination
D2
Alone in the Dark: The New Nightmare

If I manage to make it through all this, I might attempt some more, but honestly I doubt I'll make it through all of these due to time crunch.

If anyone is looking for an excellent, obscure horror title w/ a very Japanese feel to it, give Kuon a try. It's a very creepy game steeped in Japanese tradition, right down to the save feature.
I have a ton of games listed at my store's site: Super Smash Video Games

I don't think I'll have the time for anything longer than those 2. :(

How is the Alone in the Dark series? I've never played any of them and was thinking about going through the first one if i can.

The first one is definitely worth playing. It's great. It's the only one I have any experience with, but my understanding is that the others generally fall on the "bad" end of the spectrum.

The second one has one of the all-time greatest double entendre titles ever: "Alone in the Dark: One-Eyed Jack's Revenge."

Yeah, that giant rat. You have to time the jumps and hit those little rats perfectly, or else you get pushed all the way back. VERY frustrating.
