ouch the 3DS will cost 300$ in Japan

If that translates to 300€ over here I'm not buying it. Actually I'm not buying it at 250€ either. 200€ and you've got a sale Nintendo.

Yeah it's gonna be 25,000 yen. I'll still get it launch day.

For comparison's sake, for how much did the DS LL launch in Japan (in $) and for how much in the US (....again in $
)

Re: My Thoughts on 3DS Pric
Day One for me, especially with Pilotwings and Metal Gear. I don't think it will be $300, tho. The yen is kicking the dollar's ass and since the Wii and DSi aren't priced the same in the US as in Japan, they will adjust the 3DS' price, too.

Re: My Thoughts on 3DS Pric
I know. It's really irritating to see how many people are claiming it's $300. IIRC, all of the Nintendo consoles were 25,000 from the SuFami and on but they were never $250 or whatever the going Yen/Dollar rate was at the time.hashiriya1 wrote:Day One for me, especially with Pilotwings and Metal Gear. And hell yeah, MGS3:3D and Pilotwings!

Re: My Thoughts on 3DS Price
If I remember the DSiXL was 22,000 Y at launch, but only $190 USD. I'm expecting between 200 and 250.

Re: My Thoughts on 3DS Price
About a year and a half ago I sold my DS because it just was not doing anything for me anymore, but the games they have announced so far look so good. Day one purchase for me as long as it is 300.00 or lower. Mega Man Legends 3!!

Re: My Thoughts on 3DS Price
JP electronics usually sell at a lower price for NA markets, I mean for a while, Hawaii was a popular places for Japanese to vacation and buy electronics (at a lower price) at the same time. One of my bros whom visited Japan a couple of years ago, noticed that electronic prices are about 5~15% higher than American retail prices.
While I am sure at $USD 300, the initial supply for 3DS will still be sold out (by tech geeks and trend chasers), but for the casual gamers, it will be too high for them to buy later.
I do think Nintendo will try to get it in the USD $250 for the spring launch, also Nintendo didn't release the base price for 3DS games. But so far most DS games are either at $30 or $40, with some puzzle games for $20 (Picross, Picross 3D), and I did a quick check at Amazon, which have some pre-order for 3DS games around that range as well.
With the 3DS info release, I think it will give Sony the necessary specs and numbers to measure up against.

Day one, people!
Thanks to my general youngness I've only ever been able to really experience console launches from the DS forward firsthand. I haven't been this excited since I first saw the Wii!
