sega saturn connectors compatibility?
i just got a sega saturn on ebay, but i noticed too late that it doesn't come with any cables (grr). i know i need to get an AV and a power cable, but i was wondering if any of the dreamcast (or other platform) cables are compatible. thanks in advance.

The power cable is a universal one, but the AV cables are proprietary as far as I know. I don't know any system with the same connector.

Night and day. S-video is even better.geozeldadude wrote:thanks for the help. one other question, b/c i don't know anything about tech details. what's the difference in quality between the RF cable and a red/white/yellow AV cable?
But yeah, Saturn/DC/PS1 power cables are the same with the square/round plug. They all have internal power supplies, so the cord is universal.

On eBay you can still get official S-video cables and that's what you want. Do not go with the cheap cables that have flooded the market. If you're going to go with s-video, do yourself a favor and do it rightgeozeldadude wrote:any ideas where i could get an s-video cable?

hm. i don't think i'm hardcore enough to bother with an S-video cable for a system i'm not planning on playing much anyway. although i've been meaning to get ones for my old nintendo systems.
Re: sega saturn connectors compatibility?
If you have to buy a cable anyway, might as well go for a good one. If you can't afford the official cable, the 3rd party cables work just fine. There is a difference, but it's nowhere near the difference between s-video and composite.
