Isn't chicken pox really dangerous if you get it as an adult? That is what I have been told. I think I got it when I was six or seven. I still have a scare on my face from one of the "pox" I scratched off my face.

Somehow I don't think that is what you meant to say. Increasing global mortality is not really a good thing.

As for coughing on people now, I was always told that when the breakouts started, you were no longer contagious. Which sucked because you are contagious before you know you have anything.

I too was a child of the "chicken pox party" age and my mom tried her best to make sure that I got it. Finally did when I was a senior in high school.

i was told it's the other way around, you're still contagious while the breakouts are present (more accurately, open). but several internet sites are telling me different right now, so i dunno. either way, my food service job doesn't want me back to work until these things clear up. which is kinda awesome because i needed a vacation, but i certainly would have preferred it to be fully paid and when i didn't, you know, have fucking chicken pox.

You read that right. Kids no longer get to "enjoy" chicken pox.

There's a vaccine for it.

We are going to have a generation of softies. Chicken pox builds character, dammit.

yeah, both my kids have gotten the vacine. When I had shingles a couple months back my biggest concern was giving my kids chicken pox. Shingles are caused by the same virus as chicken pox, once you have chicken pox that virus never actually leaves you, it just becomes dormat. That's why once you have them, you don't get them again instead it can resurface as shingles, which suck. Well, I was told since they had the vacine and as long as they didn't come in physical contact with them we'd be cool.

When I was around 8 or so, I remember my mother having me spend time with another kid who went to my school, in order for me to get the chicken pox from him. We hung out, and he showed me his Atari 2600, which was the first one I ever saw.

And yes, I did get the chicken pox from him. It was a little itchy but very easy for me to deal with. I'm glad I got it done when I was a kid.

Agreed! Goddamn the Jenny McCarthy's of the world! Autism is NOT caused by vaccinations and Jenny McCarthy's kid turned out to not even have autism to begin with!

Man that sucks. I got them when I was 12, so I was kinda old to have them too. But not THAT old.

I got them the day I bought Metroid Prime. Haven't played it since, haha. I need to go back and finish it...
