In Springfield, MO there's a place called 1984 Arcade and it's absolutely amazing. As the name implies, it's machines from the 80s. Stuff like the original Shinobi, Galaga, Space Invaders, Xevious, Donkey Kong, etc. I could stay in there all day if I wanted. I'm only visiting here though but jah. If you want pics, they're on the top of this page: http://picasaweb.google.com/wrathoscuro/Springfield
Pretty cool stuff.

Going through deleting inactive accounts of mine as a security precaution. No hard feelings, but admins, if it is possible to delete this account, please do so. Thanks in advance!

I don't like shmups
its not that I don't like the gameplay
but the difficulty is ridiculous and u only get like 3 tries, no save system

Re: Why do you like shmups?
I like shmups because they have really cool names like Galaga, Ikaruga, and Radiant Silvergun!
Sarcasm aside. I like shmups because many of them require you to think & react quickly and to use your special weapons (like bombs) wisely. I'm sure there's many other genres of games that do that - like fps and shit. But I particularly like the way that it's done in shmups. Like in Galaga for example.. do I shoot all the big aliens or let one capture my ship so I can get double firepower later? I like being able to make those kinds of decisions and how they affect the "challenge stages" and the rest of the game. Also, it's fun to play for high score

that's sort of part of it man... but you're not really into spending substantial time on a single game, apparently.kingmohd84 wrote:I don't like shmups

KingMohd does'nt actually like PLAYING games, he just likes saying that he's PLAYED them.
Re: Why do you like shmups?
hehe I do play a lot of games, but there are more games that I want to check out than I have a life time.noiseredux wrote:KingMohd does'nt actually like PLAYING games, he just likes saying that he's PLAYED them.
I do like shmups as a way of gameplay, but i find it too difficult. I just can't keep playing for hours to reach the same point and dying, then having to redo the whole thing.
I can do the whole thing 1,2, and 3 times, but I won't repeat it 10-20 times just to die right in the same place
Re: Why do you like shmups?
I could go on about experience of playing and occasionally doing well etc. but what's really drawn me into shmups in the last couple years is that they just fit well into my life. It will literally take me 4-6 months to complete a 40 hour game, and if there's only spaced out save points I often won't have a chance to play long enough to make progress, or I just forget what it was I was doing in some games.
With shmups I can play for 10 minutes and feel like I've accomplished something. Plus I can buy one or two rather expensive games and enjoy them for years easily, rather than buying a game and not having much interest in playing it again after beating it. I've almost totally cut my game spending down to shmups only now, I generally spend less, and I know that I can keep coming back to my games for many years.
